First post here - apologies in advance if at wrong address.
I'm trying to decipher a map reference given in the squadron records of an
Aussie night-fighter unit in 1944.
One of the crews, based at Ford on the south coast, claimed to have shot up an
enemy aircraft at location "V.60".
I can't get this to work with the wonderful "coordinates translator" at:

Anyone know if this was some kind of rough sub-division of the British Cassini
grid? The "V" suggests this may have been grid square wV, but beyond that I'm
lost.
Could this be a sub-square starting 60km E of the origin of square wV, on the
square's southern border?
Again, apologies if I'm at the wrong address, thanks in advance for any advice.
Cheers,
