Hello -
Does anyone know of a place to buy an album with the song "Crawl into
a Bottle"? I know that this is a long shot - I heard Otis play it at
the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 1999. It doesn't seem
to be on either of the two albums ("London" and "How Do We Do It") -
does anyone know of a place where I could hear this amazing song
again? You'd make this Kiwi eternally grateful.
Kind regards,
-David-
The link to www.richhall.tv posted in the Links section goes to the
right address OK, but it's certainly NOT Rich Hall's website!
Unless, of course, Rich has got himself a new career as a male
celebrity nude.........
Hello all,
Thanks for the update for the Cattle Drive - as it is I missed it, but
I would've forgotten it altogether if it wasn't for your post!
Also, in ex-Liars related news, look out for a certain Mr. Reilly who
I believe has joint the ranks of comedy-related people in a band
called Beergut 100. If and when they're gigging he may be joining
them, so look out for anything.
God, I drank too much last night.
L.
Tonight (Thursday 12th Jan 2006) on BBC4;
Rich Hall's Cattle Drive
1/6. Comedy starring Rich Hall and Mike Wilmot.
Rich and Mike fall foul of the law while apprehending a burglar, and are
arrested by mounted police. Rich finds himself strangely attracted to one of
the police horses and embarks on a plan to steal them with the hapless Mike
in tow.
The pair set off in full cowboy gear, heading west to live out their cowboy
dreams. Unbeknown to them, the horses are of significant importance to the
mysterious Truesdale (Ralph Brown) who employs the animal rights activist
and bounty hunter U Horst Nightmare (also played by Rich) to get the horses
back by any means possible.

glad to help.
However, I think its Rich - not Otis. I booked tickets for tunbridge wells,
they said it was under 'rich hall' not otis lee crenshaw.
doesnt bother me though!

Hi All,
I'm a big fan of Rich too, so I'd thought I'd share this link. It shows
several dates this year. I've seen Rich live a few times - fantastic bloke.
I've managed to meet him a couple of times too. Would love to see Otis hit
the road again!

Fans of Otis should read 'I Blame Society' - very funny.
I noticed from the 'Off the Kerb' website that he's also on the Jack Dee
Apollo show on the 10th October.
Looking forward to the Cattle Drive series.

Hi Dave,
I replied to this about a week ago, but as my message seems to have
gone awol I thought I'd do it again. Just to say welcome to the board,
and sorry not much is going on right now.
A few updates though. Nick Pynn was up in Edinburgh doing a show,
although I didn't get round to seeing it. It was on at that annoying
time when everyone is doing a show so you just can't get round to
seeing everything you want to. He also joined Boothby Graffoe in his
show lending a new sound to some old favourites, and again with
Boothby and Antonio Forcione in their late night, one night only live
version of their Wot Italian album. Great gig, and highly recommended
album!
For those of you in the UK, apparently Rich's new show will be aired
on BBC4 shortly, check out www.offthekerb.co.uk for more information.
And a friend of mine recently found a gig he's doing with Mike Wilmot
down in Canterbury, Kent. I know nothing of this, and it doesn't seem
like there's a tour or anything, so keep your eyes peeled I suppose.
Hope all are well,
Lu.

Incoming news from Mr. Myron... he and Otis will be playing at:
Newbury Corn Exchange, 14th July
Larmer Tree Festival, Wiltshire, 16th July
Then jetting off to Montreal for 20th-24th July (the lucky things).
Also, no Otis gigs at the Edinburgh festival this year. Sorry about
that.
Happy comedy going, and hopefully see some of you in Edinburgh,
Lu.
Hi,
I've been reliably informed that it's not up to the boys which songs
go on iTunes, so they can't help. However, if you email Off The Kerb
(Rich's management company in the UK) who can be found at
www.offthekerb.co.uk, they are the ones who may be able to point you
in the right direction.
Hope this helps,
Lu

Dave,
You're right. Region 1 DVDs in US, Region 2 in the UK. You can get
players which play both, but yours probably isn't if you didn't know
about it!

Hi,
If you buy a multi-region DVD player, the problem will be solved.
In fact, if you buy one which can handle PAL format in UK for
NTSC TV set in US at BESTBUY or so, and fiddle a bit,
you'll be able to play DVDs from Europe in US.
Google carefully to seek the info..., and good luck!

Across the world, different markets have different region codes. DVD
players in those markets are programmed to play only DVDs encoded with
that region code. These codes aren't always applied to DVDs, however
(some are region 0, which will play in all markets).
So there are two things you need to know - is the Otis Lee Crenshaw
DVD region encoded?
And, is there a region hack for your DVD player? (almost all DVD
players supplied to the UK, for example, can be hacked to allow all
regions with the minimum of effort.)
I don't have the DVD with me, but someone else might. They should be
able to tell if it's region encoded by looking at the back of the
case. Most music DVDs are not region encoded, so it's possible that
OLC won't be.
As for your DVD player, try typing the model number and "region hack"
into Google to see if it returns anything. If it doesn't, replace the
model number with the manufacturer, and see if another player's hack
will work with yours - these hacks are often simply a series of button
presses, using the remote control.

I think you're a bit confused. Do you think that UK CDs won't play on
US CD players?

Hmm, all I can say is that I have seen all the songs available on CD
on various download sites. Aside from hoping that you're online at
the same time as they're available on p2p sharing, then I don't
really know what to advise :o(
Lu
PS Hope people spotted Myron's guest appearance alongside Otis at
the recent Comic Aid benefit on BBC (sorry, UK only). People with
nothing better to do also might like to check out.... me! In the
front row. L.

Unless you watched/recorded Rich Hall's Fishing Show on BBC4, where he
sang it in its entirety.
Matt.
There is actually a CD featuring The Gadflys though.
It was never available in the shops but was sold at
shows. So unless someone has snuck a recorder into a
show it's unlikely you'll find a copy of the George
Bush song.

I'd say check the download sites coz my friend once downloaded some obscure
snipets of live shows that were old - i'm sure one opened with the Gadfly's. I'm
not too sure which one's she used but to be honest i'm not too sure whether she
could even remember. But they do seem to be a good place to look.

Hmm, the George Bush song isn't on either album, so my guess is that
unless someone has a recording of a show then there isn't one
available. But keep demanding - if enough people want it, there
could be another album..... :)

Hey guys, I am a huge Otis lee Crenshaw and the Black Liars fan. I
have seen them on comedy central many times. The problem is here in
America I cannont find there CDs I have looked and looked and I would
love to have there two albums on my i-pod to listien to. I was
wondering if any of you could help me locate this albums or if anyone
has any ideas of how i can get them? I dont know if you can e-mail
sound files but if anyone knows and would be willing to do it I would
greatly appreciate it.
thanks

Hello there,
The best place to get hold of the first album London Not Tennessee
is probably Amazon. it's a pretty good price and rather reliable,
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005RHHE/qid=1108330568/02
6-7501601-7046041
The second album How Do We Do It? is a little harder to get hold of,
but another reliable shop,
http://www2.hmv.co.uk/hmvweb/simpleSearch.do?pGroupID=-
1&simpleSearchString=Otis+Lee+Crenshaw&primaryID=-1
does sell it. However, i'm not too sure about the availability
outside of the internet. I certainly haven't heard of it being sold
in the US. Sorry. However, if it's easier I do know most of the
tracks (from London Not Tennessee at least) occassionally pop up on
download sites.
Good luck!
Lu
