Or there is the Witney group which leaves from the West Witney Sports ground (on
the Burford Rd) at 9am every saturday in the summer, though i expect it will
change to 10am in the winter. Usually ten or so cyclist doing anything from 40
to 55 miles at a steady pace with a cafe stop.

Kevin
take a ride out there today anyway - decide whether to race when you get there
- or perhaps watch at eynsham. I'm sure you would fare better than you expect.
www.midoxon.com have there list of club runs published for the winter starting
with a ride to Godwins Farm at Weston on the Green at the beginning of October.
Midoxon are probably the least formal of clubs (i'm biased of course), but
perusing the website will show you how serious/laid back we are.
We also have a few members in the kidlington area.

Hello,
Thanks for all the replies, good to know this is an active group.
In retrospect, I think before I consider anything formal I should improve my
fitness
and stamina first, as I said before, i'm totally new to the road scene, so I
have another
question - is there an informal ride out in the oxford / kidlington area?
