Subject: [oxford-cycling] incidents whilst out for a ride
Importance: High

Anyone out riding this morning/lunchtime?

Today, Monday 31st at about 12.15, my wife witnessed an incident in High
Street, Oxford. A cab driver was hooting two riders and started nudging the
back wheel of one as they were moving. Three other passers-by gave my wife
their details and agreed to be witnesses to this aggressive event.

But the riders didn't stop to give their details to anyone.

It is rare to be attacked by a motorist and to have witnesses who offer to
make a statement so that some redress may be forthcoming. Would that
witnesses would stand-up more often, but it seems crazy not to make use of
such an offer when someone has actually been nudging you with his car/taxi.

Were you one of these riders? Any idea who they are? My wife thought they
were racing cyclists, one wore a yellow top but she cannot remember more.
Please get back in touch so that this taxi driver can be effectively
reported for such apparently wilful, dangerous and threatening behaviour.

Graham

Dear Chris, Yes we have the number of the taxi; it was noted by my wife and another witness. The police at St Aldates confirmed the registration number was...

That's ridiculous. If there are a number of witnesses to an assault or an incident of dangerous driving you don't need the evidence of the victim as well, nice...

Believe me, and those who know me will know I'm in a good position to advise on this, if there is no victim there is no crime (according to the home office...

That's correct Stuart, another good example, and there are other situations no doubt where an aggrieved party is not necessary for a prosecution. ... behaviour...
