Thanks for the link. I didn't know about the Fremont Peak ride which
sounds like good fun. I'll have to give it a go. I've ridden to
Watsonville before, it's famous for artichokes and strawberries. In the
summer, there are innumerable roadside stands selling strawberries the size
of small apples. Great riding and constant refueling!
Over here things are heating up for the ToC. The Williams Cycling guys
rode the climbs and made videos here:

Watching the videos for stages 2 and 3, you can get an idea of what riding
around here is like. Tunitas Creek (stage 2) and Sierra Road (stage 3) are
famous local climbs. Except we usually hit the base of Tunitas Creek by
11:00A (they start at 4:30P) so we're not riding in the dark. And we don't
whinge nearly as much as Williams did ascending Sierra. It's tough, but not
that hard: can do Sierra in about 33 minutes and feel pretty good.
It'll be interesting to see if the Rapha boys hit either of these.
