RE: [oxford-cycling] Pete Roberts - Can you help ?

Pete was quite a fellow...

Had overcome (I think) polio along with a number of other hardships - and as I
remember rode about 100" fixed!

He also was a big help to some of us (myself & Dave Courtney included) when we
were schoolboys and juniors in the seventies...

Best regards

Doug Rhodes

Sir
Please can you help me ?
I have heard the very sad news about Pete Roberts
I was a friend of Pete in the late 1960's and into the early to late 1970s , we
often travelled to TT 's in my car, we rode two-ups, and once we both went up
and stayed with hi s relatives in Yorkshire so as to ride a fast course there.
I packed up cycling in 1980 due to increasing bad health that had dogged all my
years on a bike, and now have serious medical issues thats why I left the
cycling scene.
I was a member of OCRC from 1965 to about 1968 when I joined the police which I
had to leave due to health problems, I came back to cycing but joined the
Oxonian and was with them for many years till my poor performances in TTs (due
to health issues) made them sort of kick me out. I was DNS a lot of times and
they took exception to it and didnt ask me about the reasons-such is life.
.
Anyway thats me, there may be peoplke like Mick Bowen or Steve Chandler or some
olduns about who remember me.
Reason I write is I would like to know details of Petes funeral, because if Im
able I would like to attend

Please email me back graham@...
