Hi,
following is the last update of the CISU case history file project.
The number of UFO reports in Italy rose slightly in Nov 2005:
31 reports are known as at Dec 09th, 2005, more or lesse at same
level as at the first November update of the previous years.
About half reports look caused by meteors and fireballs.
A military pilot reported the sighting of several lights on the
Northern Italy, close to Switzerland; though the report caused
some mass media sensation, the available informations are useless
to even understand when exactly the phenomenon had happened.
Following the development of the seasonal adjustment procedure
(http://www.euroufo.net/library/howtomonitorufowaves-footnotes.pdf),
the seasonally adjusted (s.a.) data of November highlights a
slightly stronger increase of the number of reports, from 30 in
October to 37 in November; the seasonal effect estimate for November
is -6 (i.e. there is a tendency in November to record less reports
than usual, so that the actual number of reports (31) is lower
than the seasonally adjusted number).
Looking at the number of events (which is lower than or equal
to the number of reports, as several reports could refer to the
same UFO event, as in the case of fireballs), the s.a. data is 31,
which compares to 23 in October and 36 in November 2004.
The 2005 grand total rose from 638 to 693 reports. The October
total increased from 25 to 30.
