Re: Leas - Claines

Hi Matt,

Shame you can't get over.  :(

If you don't get a response then there is always plan B.  The Mormons probably filmed the registers in the first place and by visiting one of their Family History Centres you can arrange for a copy of the films for a few dollars each.  (There is no religious pressure!)  There are quite a lot of Centres in Texas http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp  Sometimes takes a few weeks to arrive and there is a time limit before they have to be returned.

Ask them to help you identify which films you need.  After 1756 (I think) separate registers were required for births, marriages and burials, which may be split across one or more films.   Church records were not supposed to record the date of birth, just the baptism.  Some vicars/curates were considerate and did add them though.  Be careful, parents siblings and cousins, often used the same names for their own children.

Plan C - Which you should do anyway.  Contact the company through their website and ask if they have an archive department which may already have done the work for you.  Also contact the Worcester Family History Centre http://www.worcestershire.gov.uk/home/wcc-records.htm and ask them if the have any information, being a famous local company.

Good luck

Mike
