A new contact website   Message List

Hi Folks,

In talking to people one of the problems I have noticed is that many
novice researchers stick to only one website. Another is that more
experienced researchers only post when they hit a problem, usually in
the 18th century. My own problem comes in the form of a high density of
families in a relatively small area. So to over come this lot I had an
idea. A dedicated website to a single surname, at a single point in
time, and easily referenced. A HANDS surname contact list based only on
the Heads of Household in the 1851 census.

This 1851 HANDS contacts website is now up and running. It works more
or less OK:

* Internet Explorer worries about scripts
* FireFox seems to take a long time to load but looks all right
* Chrome is OK
* as is Opera
* Safari is a pain. The coloured graphics, on The Beginner's page,
only one of which is a link, are misplaced up the page by quite a bit
and overlay the text.

If you want any of yours HANDS, who were Heads of Household in 1851 to
be added, just let me know.

Anyway here is the URL http://yourhands.awardspace.com/ Even if you
don't have any HANDS please let me know what you think and whether the
whole thing was worth doing anyway.

If any one else wants to copy the idea with their own surname interest I
will try and help out.

Kind regards

Mike
