Mission Statement
Pakistan Coalition for Education is a network of diverse civil society organizations and individuals committed to quality education for all. It acts collectively to influence policies and practices through research-based advocacy and mobilization.
Coalition’s core values/beliefs regarding education:
1. The coalition believes in education as a fundamental human right.
• It’s a universal, morally justified claim.
• The state has obligations to respect, protect and fulfill the
• right to education.
2. The coalition believes in non-discrimination as a fundamental value and guiding principle to be adopted in education planning, management and delivery.
• This entails treating everyone fairly and with equal respect regardless of gender, ethnicity, caste and creed, class background and mental/physical disability.
3. The coalition believes in education that is empowering and liberating, promotes peace and tolerance and celebrates diversity in society.
Objectives of PCE
For the purpose of programme implementation, PCE define the objectives of its Education Network Strengthening as:
• Development of an education focussed network that originates civil society movements in selected thematic areas with a rights base and result based approach;
• Enhanced skills of this network in research and advocacy;
• Increased outreach and recognition of PCE through partnerships with regional and sectoral networks
• Public sensitisation about education related issues on a larger scale so that it understands its rights and identifies its roles and responsibilities
• Increased participation of civil society in decision-making processes in education sector.
