Subject: Seminar on Closure of Girls Community Primary Schools in NWFP

Dear Sir/ Madam

Pakistan Coalition for Education (PCE) is a network of diverse civil society organizations and individuals committed to quality education for all. It acts collectively to influence policies and practices through research based advocacy and mobilization. This coalition was formed in year 2004.

You may be aware that due to non availability of funds education department has closed 204 Girls Community Primary Schools in the province. The salary of the schools teachers is not paid since December 2006.

The EDOs Dir Upper and Dir Lower have terminated the teachers and closed the schools. They issued the termination orders in back dates i.e. May 2007.

PCE has organized a seminar in which affected students, teachers and community will participate. You are invited to show solidarity with them, at Peshawar Press Club, on 8^th September 2007. The programme starts at 1200 HRS sharp, the speakers include parliamentarian, right activists and representatives of teacher unions.
