I thought it was Eastern Electricity, Nik - the same side as the town
hall. The Gas company was the other side of the road. We actually
used to go in and pay our bill inside each of them!

which was destroyed in a fire in 1956. What I would like to know is
the location. The reason I ask, is that I have been handed some photos
and the owner thought they were photos of a bomb blast (WW2) in Bridge
Street. However, I'm quite certain that there wasn't many bombs
dropped on p'boro and I don't think Bridge St was hit. Also, a couple
of cars in the photo lead me to believe that they were taken post WW2.
A couple of vehicles actually look like they are from the 1950s. I
have a pretty good idea of the location these photos were taken (I
don't believe they are of Bridge St.), and I suspect it is the Robert
Sayle store.
