Dear all,
a colleague of mine would like to use Praat to annotate MP3 files
instead of WAVs in a course he will give next semester (so that all
needed sound files will fit onto a CD).
Most of the time this works fine, but for some MP3 files the TextGrid
intervals are misaligned with the signal. He sent me a screenshot
showing the Edit window of WAV and TextGrid (on top) vs. MP3 and
TextGrid (bottom): http://www.brinckmann.de/picture/top_wav_bottom_mp3.jpg
For example the end of the first interval is shown to align with
different parts of the signal depending on the sound file format.
According to my colleague the misalignment changes over the course of
the sound file (so that it is not always the same "offset").
Have you ever experienced something similar? Any comments welcome!
