There was a comic about alt ww1, not ww2, by the name of Arrowsmith, I
think.

The ideas in the comic could be used in ww2?

There does not appear to be a DVD release yet. I'm not sure if there are any plans for overseas viewing as sci fi channel does not list that information on...
