psclancaster : Message: Practical help required for Palestine training, Lancaster

I am writing to request some practical help for a forthcoming Palestine training that will take place in Lancaster.

The International Women's Peace Service (IWPS), the group I worked with in Palestine and continue to volunteer with, is holding an 8 day training here in Lancaster, from 21st-28th November. IWPS provides non-violent intervention to prevent human rights abuses, documents human rights abuses and provides international accompaniment.

There are many practical and tangible ways you can contribute to supporting the training and therefore contributing directly to the on going work of IWPS.

Offers of accomodation:

We need to find places for 12 people to stay, for either 8 or 9 nights (depending on their travel plans). Most people will be arriving on Fri 20th November & leaving on Sat 28th Nov. If that feels too long, then you could offer a minimum of 3 nights and we can piece it together.

Some people will need beds, but most people will be fine with floor space.

Ideally you would be happy to offer them breakfast. Lunch and dinner they will eat at the training venue.

They will be out from around 8.30 am to around 8.30pm, so hopefully will be easy and low maintenance guests.

We also need offers of air beds, camping mats or matresses to put on the floor in my house, and ideally some bedding as well. Several of the people attending the training will be going straight on to Palestine, so will need to be travelling light.

Offers of help with food:

We also need offers of help with food, both the cooking and donation of food.

We need to arrange a rota of volunteers who will agree to cook. This is a concrete way to support people able and willing to go to Palestine. Please help!!!
We will have a "menu plan" arranged, so you can either offer to cook anything you like that is vegetarian, or follow the "plan" if you don't want to have to think about it.

IWPS and most of the volunteers are on low budgets, so any offers of food (rice, pasta, vegetables etc etc) would also be v welcome.

Offers of cash:

Due to the international nature of IWPS, the training will involve travel costs of existing volunteers coming from a number of countries.
Many of the existing volunteers spend a lot of time in Palestine, and therefore find it hard to earn much money in their home countries.

IWPS is run entirley by volunteers and relies on donations to be able to continue.

Any money donations will be much appreciated!!!!

Many people say to me they wish they knew what they could do in response to the situation in Palestine. So here is your opportunity to do something very practical to support a bunch of deeply committed women, who are willing to go to Palestine to witness, to intervene and to stand alongside....
