Subject: [pal_soc] Fwd: PSC Update: Lobby and Meeting on the 28th // Voices for Bethlehem 7th December // A Taste of Palestine 1st and 2nd December

In this email
-          Lobby of Parliament and Meeting on the 28th
-          Voices for Bethlehem on 7th December: book now!
-          A Taste of Palestine 1st & 2nd December

------------ -------

Dear members, friends and supporters

There is one week to go before the Lobby of Parliament for Palestine, next week Wednesday the 28th November.

We would like to ask you to please make sure:

-          To make an appointment with your MP to see him on the 28th between 2pm and 6pm (if you haven't already done so) and let us know when you have done so

-          To write to your MP if you cannot come to the House of Commons on the 28th, and ask for an appointment in the constituency office

-          To please circulate the information about the meeting in the evening "Justice for the Palestinians" (see below) and to come along to the meeting on the 28th at 7pm.

While we are still collating all the information, we can already announce that this will be another successful Lobby of Parliament. Please make sure to take part and ask for an end to the Israeli Occupation and to the siege of Gaza.

The briefing for the Lobby of Parliament is available on the PSC website: www.palestinecampai gn.org

Many thanks.

PSC Meeting

Justice for the Palestinians

Wednesday 28th November
On the day of the Lobby of Parliament for Palestine

Committee Room 10, House of Commons, Parliament, London

Speakers include:
Prof Manuel Hassassian, Palestinian Delegate to the UK
Michael Scott-Joynt Bishop of Winchester
Lord David Steel
Daud Abdullah Muslim Council of Britain
Hugh Lanning, Asst Gen Sec PCS
Phillis Starkey MP
Sir Gerald Kauffman MP
Brian Iddon MP
J. Corbyn MP

------------ -------

End Israeli Occupation:
Peace for all

Lobby of Parliament

28 November 2007

2–6pm Westminster
London

Isolation
Our government must end the economic and political isolation of Gaza immediately. 1.5 million Palestinians in Gaza are suffering a humanitarian disaster with 87% of Gazans living below the poverty line.

International law
Our government must insist that Israel complies with international law and ends its continuing expansion of settlements on occupied Palestinian land. There are currently 500,000 Israeli settlers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Illegal wall
Our government must respect the International Court of Justice advisory opinion regarding the illegal wall in the West Bank and Jerusalem and hold Israel to account. The route of the Wall is effectively annexing 10 per cent of the West Bank to Israel, leaving 49,400 Palestinians stranded between the Green Line and the wall.

Democratic principles
Our government must recognise those elected democratically by the Palestinian people and help to reconcile the differences between Fatah and Hamas. All illegally held political prisoners by both sides, especially children, must be released.
An end to 40 years of occupation and a just settlement is the only way to achieve peace for both Palestinians and Israelis.

Help make the change! Join the lobby and speak to your MP.

To lobby your MP:

Firstly, contact your MP as soon as possible and arrange a meeting with them on
Wednesday 28 November. If you don't know who your MP is, go to www.faxyourmp. com or  phone 020 7219 3000.

Briefly explain to your MP what you would like to speak to them about.

Secondly, please let us know when you have an appointment with your MP so we can co-ordinate with other people in the same constituency —
phone 020 7700 6192  or email info@palestinecampa ign.org
or 020 7832 1310 / wattg@caabu. org

Even if you do not manage to contact your MP in advance, you can still try to meet them on the day — just come along to the lobby and ask for a 'green card' which you then fill in to request that your MP meets you.

We will be able to brief you on how to lobby your MP in the House of Commons on the lobby day.
