Firstly, just to let everyone know we raised £680 at
the recent fundraiser for Medical Aid for Palestinians
(including donations we received in the days
afterwards). Fab! Thanks to everyone....
Meeting notes:
1. T-shirts: Approx £5.50 each to print, agreed we
will print a selection of designs. Atef & Fais to ask
LUSU about funds. Davey & Patrick to choose
image/design. Print approx 20 in beginning to see how
well & which ones sell
2. Uni group committee election: Atef to book room for
next mtg & send email to inform people of committee
election
3. Anti-Apartheid week: 11th feb.
Following activities arranged:
12th Feb, film "Palestine is still the issue", John
Pilger documentary, 7.30pm, Gregson. Patrick & Atef to
check whether our copy works at gregson. Publicity has
been done.
14th Feb: film "Occupation 101"- uni. Fais to ask
Islamic society if they are happy with this date, as
they will jointly organise it. Hayfa to book room for
6.30pm . Posters: Fais will ask if soemone in Islamic
society will do poster, if not Atef will do it
15th Feb: Atef will book us a stall in the cultural
celebration event organised by uni, & inform them we
want to show a bit of Dabka film. Davey will ask
soemone in union whether we can provide food (bread,
zatar, oil), & will bring display board. Fais will
bring soem positive images of Palestine to show on
laptop. Alys to ask Ceri if she'll be in Bristol & can
bring any of the Palestinian goods back from Michal.
Need people to be on the stall in the evening - Atef
said it is a great night!
4. One world week: wk 9, 10th -15th March
Davey has arranged for thurs 13th march to be
Palestinian day within one world week activites at
uni. Plans so far: lunchtime film, speaker in evening
(Davey has booked lecture theatre -George Fox?), grad
bar booked for fundraiser/social
Patrick- to conatct possible speakers
Alys- contact poss bands, contact olive co-op re
getting taybeh beer, contact james re bringing
checkpoint from Leeds
Davey- ask one world committee for £100 towards cost
of speaker/checkpoint
5. PSC bank account: we still need to set this up.
Alys will work on this
6. Becoming member of CVS: Alys ask basement/ single
step if we can use thier address & then send in form
to CVS ( main advantages of joining: cheap equipment
hire eg projector)
7. Boycott: Alys has asked someone v involved in
boycott movement if he will come to Lancaster to give
public meeting. Patrick will try to update boycott
stuff to send out for Valentines day/ boycott Israeli
flowers
8. PSC AGM : 23rd Feb, Davey & Patrick will go to
London. Anyone else want to go?
9. Next meeting: we forgot to set a date. My
suggestions are tues 19th feb or tues 26th feb. Please
put your preference out on this list
