Some people are so sure that they won't be told something sincerely
they find it hard to believe a person who gives them the bottom line.

You can also run in to prejudice (the type with the small "p" - not
rampant racism style prejudice) and find that a person is unable to
to hear your critisism because they have an opinion about you that
prevents them from taking it. For example an older person may not
think a younger person knows anything about life yet or a yonger
person may think that everybody over 30 doesn't know anything about
popular music.

By the way Alina, be careful if you say "taking the piss" to anyone.
It is an informal way to say "making fun of someone" but it also has
a rude word in the end that may offend anyone that doesn't like that
sort of thing.

LOL! I wish I was there to see that. I'd have been rolling around the
floor. I once went to a LNO in the late days of LOOT (when I hadn't
been writing for about a year and all the newbies didn't know me).
Because I didn't know anyone I decided to tell everyone I met that I
was IWETEC. I got about four people before someone that did know me
recognised me and blew my cover.

I've done worse. I've had two "community" websites open before and
have been typing something something in one when something like an ad
poped up on the other page and brought that page up in front of the
other one without me noticing. So I've typed a lot of stuff that has
confused everyone. I've forgotten what it was now, so I hope it
wasn't too dodgy!

Dinner beats the weather as a conversation topic.

Either that or they affect an American accent and act as if they live
in the Bronx.

I've been boring her (I think Alina is a female name as it has an "a"
at the end). I don't see why you shouldn't join in!

Does that work with other things as well? If it does I might start
mentioning posting five pound notes to Big Mac a lot!

<elbow patch mode>
You mean you are "here" now.
</elbow patch mode>

You know if people call me "Babe" I sometimes wonder if they are
implying I'm a pig! ;-)

Shame you missed the spelling lession when they taught the
word "luckily"!

(Just kidding, my spelling is worse than yours.) ;-)

I think it is London rather than England that is the problem. There
are a lot of people (in the "yoof" culture) that seem to enjoy using
words incorrectly.

Do you actually speak any Gaelic? I don't think that you can say it
is your language if they only speak English in the place your
ancestors come from. Otherwise I could say that my native language
was Anglo-Saxon. The only Anglo-Saxon word I can think of (at the
moment) is "apple".

I suppose a person's idea of a cool language depends partly on where
they think they might like to travel. Do you want to go to Japan or
India?

I get facinated by the fact that we are something like 95 percent
genitcally identical to chimpansees. I also wonder if there are any
other hair, skin or eye colours that we could evolve later on.

Where did you find that? Alina isn't in my name dictionary.
