Hi Peter,
I have just finished shagging that cat and have deleted this post.
However because you quoted the post in your reply I was forced to
delete your post as well. I shall also be deleting any other posts
that quote the original (although I shall post a reply to preserve
the non offensive parts of the message - you can see your bit at the
bottom of this post).
The "rubbish" you refered to is a phising (pronounced "fishing")
scammer who is randomly spamming Yahoo! Groups in order to trick
people into giving out personal details that could be used for
identity theft.
Sadly scammers find it relatively easy to travel around the Internet,
as setting up multiple online identities is possible. Yahoo! do not
currently provide owners of Yahoo! Groups with a facility to report
scammers, so I can't even get this b*****er's account suspended! It
is up to us ALL to defeat scammers by being informed and being
vigilant. If your friends come online for the first time, pass on
advice about avoiding online fraud.
There is no such thing as a free lunch. You obviously can not win a
competition that you have never entered. This sort of thing plays on
your greed in order to attempt to rip you off. If it sounds too good
to be true it probably is.
Other phising scams involve sending people emails telling them that
they need to click on a link and enter personal details. These are
usually fake emails made to look as if they come from your bank, ebay
or some other financial organisation.
Another scam is to send out emails that are supposedly from rich
people living in third world countries. These emails tell you that
someone has fled the country and needs your help to get their money.
At least one person replying to one of these of these 419 scams has
been robbed and murdered. (This scam is also called the Nigerian Scam
as fraudsters often claim to be Nigerian.)
PLEASE NOTE THAT PUBLIC MOUTH DO NOT NEED YOUR YAHOO ACCOUNT DETAILS
OR OTHER PERSONAL DETAILS AND WILL NEVER SEND OUT EMAILS REQUESTING
THEM. IF YOU EVER SEE AN EMAIL MAKING THIS CLAIM YOU SHOULD IGNORE IT.

Scams see this webpage:

For information on the 4-1-9 scam see the US Secret Service website:

I would also strongly advice people to avoid making online
transactions. Special computer trojan viruses, called "keyboard
loggers" are designed to be downloaded onto your computer and steal
your credit card number, bank login details and other financial
information. This advice is especially important if you use public
computers like those in Internet Cafes and educational estabishments.
Public computers often have malware (evil software) installed on
them, because people that use them do not care if they damage the
machines. Hackers occasionall also go to Internet cafes and
deleberately download software designed to spy on other people that
use the machine.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I have been offline for a while for personal reasons (I had to go to
hospital to get that cat surgically removed from the end of my
winkie ;-) ). However, I am online again now. I can NOT stop spam
like this without moderating EVERY single post. This will stop you
from having a normal conversation with other members (as messages
will not be posted except when I log on). I might be able to moderate
membership applications. I'll check this out and see if it is
possible.
If you see any more spam, please post one (and only one) "this is
spam/scam" reply making sure to strip out any details (like website
address or phone numbers) in the original post. You can then log onto
the website and use the groups's reply facility to notify the public-
mouth owner that there is a scam/spam post you want deleted. Reply to
the dodgy message and then use the drop down menu to change the
address from publicmouth @ yahoogroups.co.uk to the publicmouth-owner
email address. (You can do this for any other post you find
offensive, but please note that it is up to the "owners" to decide
*if* they agree with you or not).
Please don't reply leaving the original details in your reply as this
helps the spammer/scammer spread their cr*p more. Everytime you
repost their details you help spread them.

Actually, if I b*gger off it won't stop scam emails being posted in
the group. And if both the moderators b*gger off, then the group
automatically gets deleted!
:-O
EEK!
