1) Leading Wimbledonians who served in India & S Africa:
Robert Bell – a founder of the East India Company
Francis Fowke – owner of a large fortune from India
Sir Bartle Frere – High Commissioner in South Africa & Governor of
Bombay, involved in the Zulu & S African wars
2) Ordinary Wimbledonians who emigrated to Canada & the US
When and where they went
How they settled down
If you have spent years living in Wimbledon without
knowing anything about its history then this is the talk for you!
