I'm thinking of getting rid of the Raynes Park and West Barnes messageboard,
because there doesn't seem to be much call for it, and it just hangs around
looking sad ! If nobody's got anything to say on it, that's fair enough, but let
me know if there was just something you didn't like about it, such as having to
register in order to use it, and then maybe I can look for a friendlier system.
I still think we need some control over the contents of the board, either by
asking users to register or by getting every message vetted by a moderator
before it appears in public, otherwise it might end up like the Motspur Park
board a couple of years ago, which started well but was then taken over by
trolls who rendered it unfit for human consumption.
What I might do, at least as a temporary measure, is set up a "noticeboard"
section to which I could easily add announcements of forthcoming events, and
then delete them once they've passed, without having to be at my own PC or
connected via a particular service provider ; much more convenient than having
to edit any of the main website. I could also publicize a general-purpose e-mail
address for communications with the Association, and you could always ask for
your own messages to be copied to the noticeboard, though you wouldn't normally
be able to post to it directly. Does that sound like it might be useful ? Let me
know if you have any other ideas, or if you're very keen to see this board
reprieved !
