I am writing to thank you for registering your details on our website, and pledging your support to our forthcoming campaign.  I have particularly appreciated the many comments you have made as you registered.  Please forgive me but - much as I would like to - I cannot reply to all of them.

PS  Because this is a preparatory phase of the campaign I do not want to involve too many politicians at this stage.  We will be briefing them separately and need to keep our powder dry, so can I ask that you avoid passing it around political circles?  If some do get involved at this stage it won't be a problem, but I'd rather deal with them later.
