Introduction
**************
The Strategy for Veterans was
launched in Mar 2003 and in 2007 it was announced that June 27th of
each year has been earmarked as the day to remember the service provided by
Veterans. This year Veterans Day will be celebrated along with Armed
Forces Day (AFD).
British
Forces Germany Veterans Day (BFG VD) 2009 will take place at Hohne Camp on 27
June 2009 and will be sponsored by HQ 7th Armoured Brigade and Hohne
Garrison. The event will be open to all UK Veterans residing in

The aim of BFG VD will be to
provide the recognition and status afforded to Veterans and to provide an
opportunity for UK Veterans now resident in Germany to meet and discuss
Veteran’s issues and participate in a Memorial Service. The event
will also serve to foster a relationship between serving members and Veterans,
particularly in light of the GOCs BFG Veteran’s Initiative
Programme.

The programme will consist of an open forum, military band
display, equipments display, memorial service, and museum visit. A
detailed programme is at Enclosure 1.
Security
**********
To facilitate security arrangements, only those
Veterans who have pre-registered their intent to attend this event will be permitted
access to Hohne Camp.
Branch Standards

Branch Standards are requested to be attend where possible. The
coordination for the RBL will be conducted by the Bergen-Hohne Branch.

The Garrison is putting a
lot of work into this. It will be taking place on a date when many of the
soldiers will be sacrificing their long weekend in order to show their support
