It took a year and a half to summon up all 13 episodes of the 2001
Series but i've done it in this report.
Overall: 6 1/2,
that ain't good.

BAD POINTS:
*instead of letting Sooty be Sooty we got more than half of the
series fill with serious and pointless plots,
*hotel fill with bright primary colours,
*Liana suddenly written out with no reason why,
*Scampi only in two episodes,
*Butch being in every episode...

in fact everything else apart from the main guy Sooty.
He's the star of the show as its called Sooty.

GOOD POINTS:
*We got a new character called Miki (which am proud to say that we
brought the news of this character THREE MONTHS before the series
began.
*Great episode called 'It's a Dog's Life' (just prue Sooty Show magic
from the good old days)

As you can see i can list everything that was bad about this series
if i could with so few nice things to say about it.
No wonder Series 50 was cut-down to only 10 episodes and am glad most
of the writing staff was sack (so am told).

Episode Review: Sooty – All New Sooty (02 out of 10)
I know I made of said in the Sooty News that I fought this episode
was great… How wrong was I. Not only that we are to believe Liana
has gone without trace and Scampi is being naughty somewhere that the
hotel is destroy with horrible wallpaper full of bright primary
colours. And that lot from Changing Rooms was in to destroy the hotel
and they did a great job of it. I would tell you about this episode
but if you haven't got the idea that this episode was CRAP then
you really have no clue. The only time you would ever watch this is
when it's an unwanted episode on the Sooty Video or DVD whenever
Gullane start bringing them out or to get straight to The New Arrival
episode with the new feline friend Miki.

Episode Review: Sooty – The New Arrival (09 out of 10)
To get over the really bad first episode we have a landmark episode
with the new feline friend Miki. Soo wants to start a Girl band
called `The Girl Friends' with only Sooty and Sweep as Girls.
Then Richard starts to hear strange things and blames it all on
ghost. Then when Soo is all alone upstairs she hears the ghost
singing and also gets scared. Then while Vicky was painting a picture
she also she something strange and thinks it's a ghost. Then
Butch,
Sweep and Sooty think of only one person to call… The
Ghostbusters
and they all be Ghosthuters to search for the ghost and also gets
scared. So Richard went in search for the ghost and finds are new
little friend. Miki is found sleeping in a cardboard box outside in
the yard. She tells think she is a Brazilian cat who came all this
way from Brazil to find a new home. Miki is a tomcat that even knows
she's a Girl she loves doing Boy Stuff. Soo is upset Miki
doesn't
want to do girl stuff and Miki, Sooty and the Gang cheer her up by
putting on a song.This is a great start to Miki and a welcome member
of the Sooty Gang.

Episode Review: Sooty – Sc-fi Sooty (08 out of 10)
Now this series gets better with this charming episode that fits well
into the 2001 Series and is perfect for the new character Miki. Our
New Feline Friend is getting bored of the comics that Sweep has and
doesn't want to read Soo comics about Ponies and Flowers, so she
writes her own Science Fiction Story and writes about Queen Miki
–
Ruler of the Galaxy. While this is going on Richard sees something in
the sky and believes it's a UFO. Butch keeps popping-up around
the hotel placing ads for Butches Burger Bar. Richard then tries to
find the spaceship again because of the local newspaper saying they
will put the picture on the front page if its real. So Sooty, Sweep
and Soo want to trick Richard to believe there are aliens and take
ideas from Miki's Science Fiction story. But what makes this
episode
worth coming back to and is giving full marks in Returning and
Classic Appeal is the great song `Saturn Will be Home Soon'.
The
Video is one of the best you will see in this series and is one of
the many great things about this episode. But when Richard finds out
it was Sooty, Sweep and Soo tricking him, he gets them back by the
help of the reporter from the local newspaper and dress him up like a
Alien. A highlight from the series yes it does get 8 out of 10 but if
you look at other Episode Reviews from Sooty (with All New Sooty
getting 2 out of 10) it did really well.

Episode Review: Sooty – Its My Party (05 out of 10)
Its time for someone at Sooty Heights to be five years old again as
its Soo's Birthday. Richard and Vicki are getting ready in the
living room for the party with Vicki getting her hair stuck in sticky
tape. Soo wakes up to her Pop Star Doll collection and is jumping
about because it's her birthday. Soo wants to help Miki with the
cooking but she asks for Sweep to help instead. Sooty wants to help
so much he gets his own hat but still has Sweep to help him, even
know Sweep has poured Flour of Miki because she say the old line
`Let
Me Have It'. Soo talks to Derek the Duck in the bathroom about
how
many cards she got last year while Richard writes a poem about her
downstairs. Miki tells Soo that she is teaching Sweep how to make
dishes from her country, to hind the fact that its food for Soo's
Party. While Richard try to write the poem for Soo, Sooty and Vicki
wraps the gifts for the party with Sooty hiding them his magic wand
before Soo comes in. Then with Soo being so sad no one has remembered
her birthday, she runs away. Sooty has fun with Sweep and Miki's
cooking by moving the rolls with his magic wand [at lease I think
that's what happen because ITV1 had a cut-out in this section of
the
show]. Soo has her own birthday party with her dolls, but is sad
throughout. The song that follows this is totally dreadful and the
only thing we are sad about is that it's put on the show. Vicki
finds
the letter that Soo has run away. Sooty finds Soo when she's sad
and
lonely so he joins the club. Then with Special Effects, Sooty shows
Soo everyone getting ready for her party and worried at where she is.
Soo is overwhelmed about her friends doing this but Sooty feels sad
that he's been left out. The Friends go in search for Sooty and
find
him in the attic. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with
this
episode its just anyone who remembers the last episodes of Sooty & Co
will see its nothing but a recycled version of Sooty's Birthday
(see
review). For that reason it gets a 1 for Funny and 4 for Classic
Appeal. But for using the `Let Me Have It' it gets 8 for
Laugher and for the Special Effects (done in An Christmas Carol like
of way) it gets 8 for Sooty's Magic. So overall it's just
five.
Miki's debut is still the best of the series of far.

Episode Review: Sooty – Sweep Asleep (08 out of 10)
In days like these you never think you'll see a Sooty episode
that has everything which makes Sooty our childhood hero. Vicki gets
her pet tortoise called Steve ready for its winter sleep, she tells
Sweep that tortoise sleep until Spring Time and don't do any work.
Speaking of people not wanting to do work. Vicki, Miki and Sooty try
and hide from Richard throughout the episode that has jobs for them
to do. While Miki reads her comic and Soo sweeps the yard, sweep mess
up the yard with straw because that's what he needs to hibernate.
The
whole hotel talks about Sweep's latest idea and Richard starts
thinking of a way to stop it from happening. Steve escapes from his
box while Sweep has drunken 3 cups of coco to help him fall asleep in
the living room. The self-title song `Sweep Asleep' is not bad
but is quite sad. Richard asks Soo to do all of Sweeps jobs because
he knows it can get done with her. Miki is asking Richard does Cats
hibernate because she's bored with doing her chores. Vicki is
still
trying to find Steve, Richard still wants them to do chores and Miki
gets scared when she she's a monster that really is our lost pet
tortoise. So Richard dress up in Spring clothes, Vicki dress up like
the Easter Bunny, Sooty and Soo dress up as Spring Lambs all trying
to trick Sweep in thinking its Spring Time; but for once Sweep is
being smart and is not fooled. While Sweep is still asleep and Sooty
joins the club as Richard tells him that bears hibernate. And are
little teddy bear is shortly joined my Miki who is very tired to. So
Vicki and Richard teaches are sleeping friends a lesson for the next
time that wake up and are hungry. They try and hibernate when are
friends want there dinner. At the end they all learn a lesson that
only certain animals can hibernate for the winter. Now the only
person who earns a good long sleep is Soo as she's been working
all
day. Having thesame score as Sc-fi Sooty proves it has classic appeal
and you will remember this from the series. But we give only nines
and tens away only to the amazing episodes and Still Miki's debut
is
the strongest out of the lot but can it be beat by something stronger?

Episode Review: Sooty – It's A Dogs Life (10 out of 10) SOOTY
ELITE
They said that it can't be done, that a episode from the latest
series of Sooty is only the 3rd Sooty product, Episode or Video to
join the Sooty Elite. And lets tell you why, back to true form now
that this series is also called The Sooty Show and after 5 episodes
since launch there's a episode to really earn its right and be
called The Sooty Show and part of the Sooty Elite. Scampi returns and
its nice to see him back as by this point we all miss him and this
alone would give this episode full marks, but there's more. While
he
is painting with Sooty in the dinning room of Sooty Heights, Sweep is
messing about and painting over Scampi and Sooty's pictures but
in the end he gets covered with paint. Sweep then dress up as a girl
and dances with Miki and Soo (Its Sweep we are talking about so do I
have to explain why) but gets Miki covered with Water. Then a very
posh speaking woman is asking for a room and is complaining about the
colour of her room. Richard tells Sweep of for putting his files ship-
shape and makes the files into the shape of a ship. Then Richard gets
carried with Sweep's ticking cake, which bows up, in his face. We
find out from the posh lady that his Jack ran away. Now for the bit
we would of taking marks off for this episode. Soo saying `No, I
have never had a boyfriend' which is a total lie but we are
letting
this one go for now. Sweep playing with the food that's for lunch
is
the final straw for Sooty & the Gang and is told to get loss. Sweep
being told off and feeling unloved is true Sooty Show Gold and I give
high praise for the writer who wrote this episode. Sweep makes
friends with the posh lady and buys him from Sooty and Soo for five
pounds. It this day and age where Sooty was brought for £1.5
million,
Sweep should to worth more than five pound but for this to happen is
still true Sooty Show fun. After this, Sooty and the Gang start to
miss Sweep very much and when Sweep is putted in a dog house by the
posh lady, Sweep runs back to his true friends and is sorry to
everyone for being a pain. This is What a Sooty episode should be
like and if the whole series had this type of quality it would be a
hit. This episode sets a position that
the whole series should be judge.

Episode Review: Sooty – Practice Makes Perfect (04 out of 10)
What do you want to be when you grow up?, well letting Sooty and his
friends answering this question is odd when they will be five years
old forever is weird, but it makes a average episode for Sooty. Soo
wants to be a hairdresser because she likes to cut peoples hair,
Sooty wants to be a builder because he would like to drive a truck
and Sweep would like to be a lollipop man because he likes to eat
lollipops (silly sweep). But Miki wants to open a pizza restaurant
and starts by turning the dinning room into her new business. Sooty
and Sweep wants to join in but soon messes up the whole place and
Miki fired both of them. Soo wants to practice cutting hair on Vicki
but she only agrees when Soo promise Vicki that her new hairstyle
would make her into a film star. But soon after her hair is in a mess
and Richard hears her crying out of her bedroom. When Richard tastes
Miki's pizza he thinks its horrible and Miki starts to cry. Then
Sooty and Sweep plays doctors and nurses on CITV'S Tom when all
he wants is the key for his room. Tom sees Miki crying and teaches
her how to make the perfect pizza. Soo tells Richard, Sooty and Sweep
not to laugh at Vicki's hairstyle but they laugh anyway. Soo tests
her hair cutting still on Sooty and Sweep and messes up there hair
(even know they DON'T HAVE HAIR) But Soo learns Vicki, Sooty and
Sweep
are upset over messing up their hair. So they all understand that you
can practice want you want to do when you grow up but still have good
fun while your young. The episode is average, nothing more or nothing
less than average.

Episode Review: Sooty – Sad, Sad Sooty (05 out of 10)
This episode was place on ITV2 because of attacks on America so
nobody saw it and judging by only pictures of this episode alone, its
better left that way. Richard and Sooty want to impress the judges of
the Happy Hotel competition so Sooty practice his magic tricks. Miki
and Sweep wanted to do magic for the judges too, but when they look
inside Sooty's Magic Book, it flies away. They argue who catches
the
book and when they both catch the book it rips in two. They
didn't
want Sooty to find out so they hind the rip book, so Sooty can't
do
his magic. Without his magic book, Sooty is miserable so to cheer his
friend up, Soo paints the hotel walls (finally getting rid of those
colourful spots) and Sweep dress up as a clown. But things turn to
worse when Sooty's unplanned magic goes wrong and covered the
judges
in blancmange. But soon later Miki returns the rip book and says
sorry to Sooty but no harm is done because he magics it back together
again. On the plus side it use special magic effects and finally
covered the colourful walls and On the minus side this has been the
third episode this year were one of Sooty's friends gets
miserable (Soo in It's My Party, Miki in Practise makes Perfect
and
Sooty in Sad, Sad Sooty)

Episode Review: Sooty – The Night Of A Thousand Bears (09 out of
10)
For a long time Movie Spoofs have been in Sooty, With Sweep as Super
Dog to name but one. In this episode has the fun of a good film.
Vicki is so nervous about her solo show that she put red spots on her
face and says they are chicken pots. When Richard and Vicki leave for
the show, Richard leaves Soo in charge of Sooty Heights much to
Sooty, Sweep and Miki's sadness. But Are friends get so
over-worked with Soo jobs that Sooty has a idea of making more pairs
of hands to help. Sooty's idea was to make more Sooty's so
they
didn't had to do any house work. Soo gets trick by Sooty's
Plan and
complains to Sweep and Miki that they haven't done any housework.
Soo
picks up on Sooty's idea and forces Sooty to make even more
Sooty's.
Soo becomes more bossy with all the Sooty's and when she orders
them
to do all the chores they attack with cream pies they
Capture Sweep and tied him up. The friends got out just in time
leaving Sweep behind, But when Soo becomes more bossy and order Sooty
to magic them away, Sooty's Magic Wand goes down the pug-hole
leaving are friends in even more danger. Miki tells Soo off and calls
her `A Bossy Bear Brain'. Then after that Vicki comes back
from the
show and has to tell her what's happen. Sooty and Miki puts their
plan in action and go up to the visitor's rooms. When the visitor
ask
`why are you cutting a hole in my floor' and Miki replies
`So I
can put Sooty in the kitchen to get the magic wand and save Sweep
from a room of Evil versions of himself. Are visitor is a writer with
writers block and this has given him an idea. This next scene totally
spoofs Mission Impossible with Sooty being lower to get the magic
wand. This episodes song also totally spoofs Indiana Jones and that
is just great even if the song isn't. But while Soo and Vicki
tried
and save Sweep they get capture also, but it wasn't so after
Sooty
got his magic wand back and everything was back to normal. And are
writer friend got the idea for his book and he calls it `The
Night Of
A Thousand Bears'. The highlight of this show has to be the many
film spoofs just are full with laugher each time you see them. Hardly
any flaws what so ever and The People at Gullane, when you make
Sooty's 50th series keep up this sort of quality.

Episode Review: Sooty – You Don't Scare Me (07 out of 10)
Are you keeping count of the movie spoofs feature in this series,
Well most people have lost count but we now add two more to that
figure. Sooty, Sweep, Miki are watching one of Vicki's videos
without her knowing. They are watching `Lunchtime at the
Brain-Gobbers' with Sooty being scared stiff, Sweep being a
little
worried and Miki now gives new meaning to the name `scary
cat'.
Richard destroys the mould that Vicki is making of him for school.
Richard wants to know why they're watching the scary film and
finds
Sooty scared stiff. Richard tells the friends to go outside because
it's better than staying inside. So outside the friends play
cricket
and also frighten each other with scary mask. During their game they
broke a window and when they receive their ball back from the room
they see the man from the scary film they were watching. Vicki leaves
her mould in the hands of Richard to practise the lines for the Brain-
Gobbers 2 film with the actor. But are friends believed that the
Brain-Gobber is holding Vicki hostage so they try and save her. So
another movie spoof comes to Sooty in the form of Batman & Robin with
Sooty being Batman and Miki being Robin. But our friends are soon to
know that the Brain-Gobber is only an actor and learn not to get
their minds running wild. A nice episode

Episode Review: Sooty – A Cat and Dog Thing (08 out of 10)
In the early days of The Sooty Show you would never think that Sweep
hate for cats will end up having a new friend in crime in the shape
of Miki. This episode has Butch chasing Miki and then Miki chasing
Butch because they both hate each other because of the old saying
that Dogs hate Cats. While Sooty, Sweep and Soo make a mess in the
kitchen and covers Richard in flower and eggs, Miki start teasing
Butch and makes him afraid of her. So Richard thinks of ideas to make
Miki feel more at home and plan a party. So Sweep and Scampi make a
picture for Miki and Butch comes along to teach him the lesson of
Dogs hating cats. Sooty and Soo keeps looking about Miki stuff and
she gets a little fed up with them looking about. Meanwhile, Butch
teaches Sweep the lesson about Dogs Hating Cats and with Sweep none
the wiser he goes along with it. While that goes on Sooty and Soo
keeps asking or trying to ask Miki questions about what she likes. So
Butch makes Sweep think that Dogs hate Cats and soon takes a dislike
to Miki at the surprise party and Miki gets upset. When Sweep gets
told what he done he is deeply upset. Sooty goes in search for Miki
and said everyone is sorry. This episode lets you know people like
different things, different people and nobody is the same. A treat of
the series with only a few highlights that's proud to be called
`The
Sooty Show'.

Episode Review: Sooty – Favourite Things (03 out of 10)
I fought The Sooty Show was about Sooty and his chums. Well in this
episode Sooty, Sweep, Soo and Miki get forgotten by Richard and he
wants to play with Butch. All of our four friends wants to know are
they Richard Favourite and are sad that Butch is Richard's
favourite and not them. But they soon realise after locking Butch in
the shed and playing with Richard on his Playstation that they are
all Richard's favourites. I'm not spending the time to waste
watching this episode because it has Butch as its main character and
its totally wrong as like I said its called `The Sooty Show'
and
Sooty should be the star. At lease the song `Wanna be the
Favourite' is alright but that's not enough to save it. When
they
start bringing this series to Video & DVD do fast-forward this, it
might be watchable but am not a five-year old am I?

Episode Review: Sooty – Santa's Back (08 out of 10)
All we want for Christmas is Presents and all we really want is an
above normal episode of Sooty and we got it in the shape of
Santa's Back. It's Christmas at Sooty Heights and Sooty and
Sweep are
all excited because its Christmas. But when they are being naughty,
Richard tells them off and be more like Soo. Later on Sweep and Soo
were playing in the living room and Soo uses Richard's Christmas
jumper to mop up spilt paint. Soo is upset and when Richard finds his
jumper he blames Sweep. Sweep hates that he's being blame off
something he didn't do because Richard wouldn't think that
Soo would
do such a bad thing. The hotel is closed for Christmas but a guest
under the name `Kris Mess' wants a room and will pay 3 times
the
normal pay. Everyone speaks to him and say `your name rhymes with
Christmas', but our guest doesn't want to know as he wants to
get
away from Christmas. Later on still trying to get away from
Christmas, Kris Mess hides in the attic were Sweep is crying. Kris
ask `why are u upset', and Sweep explains that he's being
blame for
messing up Richard's jumper. Sweep ask (or squeaks) `why do u
dislike
Christmas' and Kris explains `imagine being Santa and having
to
travel to 33 billion children in one night and eating all the mince
pies and drinking all that milk?' Sweep replyed that he would
loved
it. Kris finds Soo and makes the two friends make up, then Soo
explains to Richard that it was her that mess up the jumper.
All the friends go to sleep, waiting for Santa and here a noise in
the backyard. They were soon to discover that Kris was actually
Santa. He said to all of them `I just wanted a year off, but
Sweep soon made me see want Christmas really means, To Be Loved and
share with friends'. But Santa was late to deliver the gifts so
he
ask Sooty and his chums to help. They arrive home late and Richard
and Vicki wonder where they were?
Got to love a great Christmas Special and at the last episode, this
series has just found out what its all about… Let Sooty be Sooty
and this is how you get a great episode. The last song of the
series `Santa's Back' was catchy but ok. And we were soon
to find out that this was the last episode of a 20 year carerr for
Brenda Longman, the voice of Soo. I say you can't of went out on a
better
show.
