i'm glad there are people coming back here and please
do keep posting as this is the group and the site
making the best sooty home on the net.

I want to talk about the recent seasons of Sooty and
if any members have seen them please to reply to this
and discuss.

Lets look at 2001.
Well am glad Gullane sold out to Hit because how c**p
was this series.
If you are from Down Under and reading this and having
a clue what am about to talk about then i wish i was
you.
The 2001 series was so bad it left its clear mark on
the overall ok/great 2002 season (ie. have the buget
was lost and episodes cut from the usual 13 down to
10)
it had its good points:
1 - We have a new character called Miki which am still
proud that this site reveal who is was THREE MONTHS
before the series started.
2 - They finally remember what 'The Sooty Show' was
all about half way through the season with ITS A DOGS
LIFE. A episode which became only the third to get 10
out of 10 from me (the others were Sweep-SuperDog DVD
& VHS and The Sooty Show - Bulgar Box).
3 - For a moment it looked like Sooty could of follow
the route of The Tweenies and Bob The Builder when pop
like songs were in the series. In an upcoming update
you will be able to download the all 13 songs.
4 - It was the end of an era when after almost twenty
years, Brenda Longman the voice of Soo left Sooty. Her
final episode 'Santa's Back' was a good sent off for
her.

now the bad points
1 - Sooty wasn't Sooty. The other characters took over
when Sooty is the star of the show.
2 - Scampi only in TWO EPISODES and nearly replace by
Butch. Because Scampi can't talk he was almost
forgotten, wipe from are memory and Butch isn't that
good. When they get Mike Reid to voice the character
(because the voice-over did sounded like him) does it
i'll change my mind.
3 - Liana Bridges wont return to sooty and Gullane
drop her contract. After appearing in the last series
of Sooty and Co, all of Sooty Heights and the varoius
tours she was almost forgotten by the show. No reason
why she left just didn't came back.
I cant believe i'll said this but a massive pot hole
in sooty.
4 - The Walls, there are so bright you know for sure
its target is small children. Trying to escape the
fact the series really sucks beyond belief.

On To 2002
This was the 50th series of Sooty so what did they do.
Well the Sooty, Sweep and Soo puppets were created
from the same style of puppet from Harry Corbetts day.
I didn't believe it when they actually done something
to the series, doing something new and marking 50th
years. There was no chance for a clip show but they
made a ok/great season.

Good Points
* They paint over the walls... thank you
* A good opening episode 'Robo Richard' with the other
episodes following the same wavelength, but none
getting higher than 8 out of 10 for me (with maybe the
odd one getting 9)
* Actually making an effort to make it look like a
hotel with all the extras about.
* Using the Butch puppet much less... thank you again.
* Scampi in every episode (someone must of visit these
sites and listen to mine and our views)

Bad Points
* The fact you can notice Sooty's buget has been cut
in half.
* The Series being shorted to 10 episodes
* Only a couple of episodes turning out awful.

Look at the pictures attached to this message from the
episode 'The Little People' were Richard and Vicki get
tiny by Sooty's machine because the gang dont like
being small.


So 2002 series is better than the previous year.
Anyone please reply and give your view. Which series
was better 2002 or 2001.
