Re: Sooty Series 51: Episodes 01 - 03

hello there!
have been watching this site over the years with great interest!.
I have always been a huge Corbett fan and have found series
51 to have been the most true to Sooty since my involvement. The
descisions as to the artistic content of the shows has always been
made with the best of intentions by the producers though it is only
recently that i believe we have regained some classic appeal.

The worst fear of the tv guys is to be branded old fashioned hence
some new approaches but thankfully our new director Peter Eyre
acknowledged the brilliance of the Corbett formula and I am very
proud of some of the results in series 51.

It has also been hard to find writers who really got the whole
picture and in the past and very frustrating when an approved script
failed to deliver in rehersal!!!!

I co wrote last years theatre tour and have soley written the Comedy
and Chaos tour which hits the road in September.Corbett fans will
love it-full of classic bits. Butch is personally one of my favourite
characacters particularly when he is aggressive and unsavoury!
(Corbett style)He definately stars in this tour and if any of you
catch it do come and say hi after the show.

Back to series 51. My favourite episode is yet to be screened-it
involves sooty trying to win scout badges- Helen Lederer guests as
the scout leader... Incidently i chuckled at Brians observation that
I looked a year older in series 51- infact we recorded series 50 last
July and series 51 last September!!! must be the stress of living at
Sooty Heghts!!! Series 52 has not been commissioned yet as far as I
know but keep saying nice things and ill make sure the important
people visit this site!!! Goodluck to you all and may I assure you
all of us here at Sooty really do care!!! feel free to ask me any
questions but forgive me if it takes a while for me to answer.

Cheers!
Richard.

Re: Series 51

hi, richard cadell here.

i was as suprised as anyone when series 51 started transmission in
the summer instead of our usual autumn slot! the episodes shown this
year are not series 50 but part of series 51 which has 10 episodes.
i have no idea when to expect the rest, which in my opinion are the
better episodes!! i'm currently rehearsing the new stage tour which
i think will be fabulous. there is nothing better than seeing sooty
live! next time i'm on i'll list the theatres and dates if any of
you want to say hi,

cheers richard and the gang!
