**************NEWS*****************
SERIES 51 MORE INFORMATION
It will be shown all of Series 51 from the start with Sooty's Baby
being the first episode shown next tuesday.
I have now be inform that the start time will be 3.55pm but still
Sooty has never had that timeslot for over five years as before its
always been 3.35, 3.40, 3.45 or 3.50pm. This could mean that a scene
originally cut for time in the first run could be re-added. This
hasn't been confirm as it could either be more time to show something
they will give away on a 60p per minute number.

SOOTY'S MAGIC BIRTHDAY PARTY
Now it beats Sooty's Magic Lamp, Sooty's Stately Home and Little Shop
of Mischief as the Rarest video you can find anywhere and without it
can you complete your Sooty VHS Collection. Highly doubtful you will
see this re-release, if you ever find this on ebay expect to pay up
to £30 just to get it. And us at Reaching Brand New Sooty Heights has
been sent a copy of this ultra rare video. Of course we will review
it and detail everything that happen in it and try to get screen caps
from the video and possibly real bad quality video clips as only a
handful have this video and its to let a wider audience see it and i
will take them off the site if am not allowed thats if i make any.

THE LITTLE BIG PEOPLE
(episode eight of Series 50, Sooty's Golden Jubilee year)
rating: 4 out of 10

Not a bad idea for an episode, make Richard and Vicki small and our
friends the big people. I have to say its new, its original and it
makes for a good episode that is ok than the average stuff we have
seen in Series 50 so far and this could be a sign for something
really different for Sooty and his friends to challenge. But then you
look at this episode and change your mind about what you thought.

Are friends made a tower to get the sweets from the top shelf?
Richard speaks to our gang that `too many sweets are bad for little
people' Sooty, Sweep, Soo and Miki agree that they hate being the
little ones in the hotel. Richard promises them a surprise for
tomorrow and for them to behave. Scampi pops up and helps Richard and
the gang when his back is turn, Sooty magic down the jar of sweets of
the top table.

When Richard sees the sweets he takes them and eats some on his own
and apart from Vicki doesn't share any of the sweets with Sooty and
the Gang. So they agree to teach them a lesson for being so mean and
by Sooty's Magic Wand turns Richard and Vicki into little people. Now
they treat them as Babies and make them sleep in the dollhouse and
where dolls clothes with Richard being dress up in a dress.

Sweep sings them a lullaby to get them asleep and they play along
until he disappears. As far with the special treatment this episode
needs like making Richard and Vicki small, the squeaky voices and how
they make Miki and Sweep look giant do look cheap but on there slash
budget thanks to Series 49 and `that' episode (All New Sooty) you
have a feeling this could be a lot better than what your watching but
sadly your stuck with this poor effort from an episode which is
overall good compare to the rest of Series 50.

References to a past episode when they re-watch `Lunchtime at the
Braingobbers' and say up really late to view it on television. A
problem with this scene has to be you could almost see a hand from
the puppeteers and didn't felt right with it. Richard and Vicki make
there way downstairs despite their size and hope the magic would soon
wear off

Soo helps Miki, Sweep and Sooty into bed and reads them their bedtime
story and does the same to herself when she wanted to go to sleep.
Then she thinks about being small and missing Richard and Vicki being
tall and starts to sing about it. Earplugs at the ready as times like
these you wish and in-fact beg for Brenda Longman to return or anyone
good enough to be the replacement voice of Soo. This song makes you
want to throw up and could make you sick just thinking about the
sappy and forgettable lyrics. Again its times like these you really
miss Brenda and I hope that someone better does the voice of Soo as
the current voice days has to be numbered for the sake of continuing
Sooty for the next 50 years.

Richard and Vicki return to their normal form and our friends our
sorry for playing a trick on them but everyone agrees its not easy
being big or small and the big people give the small people their
surprise… a mouse. I so wanted to like this and thought things were
looking up when Sooty's Magic Garden and The New Gang were so great
but they have fallen a lot since those simple standards they set in
those episode.

"The Little Big People" downfalls are it wasn't that funny, highly
doubt you would want to sit through this again, the slapstick wasn't
up to normal standards despite spending more money than normal in
making this and the voice of Soo is a big issue and major steps has
to be taken to change Soo's voice to something likeable so we don't
get really poor efforts like this ever again

DIGGING FOR DINOSAURS
(episode nine of Series 50, Sooty's Golden Jubilee year)
rating: 4 out of 10

They certainly dug up something all right and it wasn't Dinosaurs
it's something far more badly. That for the THIRD TIME they have re-
written a script first wrote by Matthew Corbett. And while it's My
Party (Sooty & Co: Sooty's Birthday) and Robo Richard (The Sooty
Show: Matt Robot) had been ok in their retelling this episode
called `Digging For Dinosaurs' just had to do something different and
becomes so awful you have to question the person who commission this
script to be made for the 50th Series of Sooty.

For Digging For Dinosaurs they went to the past and rewrote The Sooty
Show: School Trip. While in my view the original episode wasn't too
good in the first place and thinking Digging For Dinosaurs would
improve on it they so didn't and created something even worse.
Basically Richard takes Sooty, Sweep, Soo and Miki to the National
History Museum to see all the Dinosaurs and our friends learn
something or get ideas from their visit. In School Trip Matthew was
in charge of a Trip to see the Museum with all the school children
that were in Sooty, Sweep and Soo's class.

While this could just be a simple direct copy of a perfectly good
Corbett script they do expand on this idea with Sooty and Sweep
digging up the back garden looking for Dinosaur bones and Miki making
Dinosaur theme food which is good it's the other thing they add to
the script which is the terrible thing about this script and stops it
from being any good. Richard talks about losing his favourite teddy
and misses it very much and when searching for Dinosaurs, Sooty and
Sweep find a box in the ground and inside it they find something
really special – Richard's favourite teddy bear.

It's just this plot hole is as big as the one's in "All New Sooty".
You can't claim in one episode (Robo Richard) that you have been here
for four years and in this episode suggest you have been here since
you were a child. Again insulting the audience you trying to attract
to Sooty thinking there too stupid to put two to two together and not
notice the mistake and they have certain make mistakes for a Series
50 which should be special but its not.

BEST FRIENDS
(episode ten of Series 50, Sooty's Golden Jubilee year)
rating: 8 out of 10

Now as Series 50 draws to a closed and Series 51 starting pretty soon
in 2004 on Sooty's 52nd Year strangely we look to see if this episode
was any good in the first place. Overall Series 50 is better than
Series 49, which wasn't a hard job to do but they have learnt from
mistakes and look on these boards and remember posting your comments
about sooty here does help improve it as it was us which kind of help
Scampi feature in every episode and change the Miki voice so it
doesn't sound like Woody Woodpecker and stop a lawsuit on their hands

In `Best Friends' the gang decide to play a game of American football
together. Sooty asks if Sweep can be on his team, as they are best
friends! Sweep messes around by dressing up as a cheerleader (again
sweep dressing up in woman's clothes for the FOURTH TIME) and loses
his team the game. Sooty tells Butch he is very sad and angry at
Sweep because he wanted to win the game. And because of this game a
lifelong friendship could be lost forever as Sooty and Sweep fall out
with each other and play with other friends.

And when Sweep finds Sooty playing with Butch he gets upset, as Sooty
is HIS friend. And when he gets left out of all of the other fun at
the Hotel, Sweep feels sad and lonely and misses his lifelong friend
very much. Sooty seen Sweep in the distance and didn't meant to left
Sweep out with all the fun and wanted to make things up with his
doggy friend and goes in search to find where he's hiding.

Sweep who needed to cheer him up goes to Soo's room and plays
dressing up (For the 5TH TIME guess what Sweep dress up as). Finally
Sooty finds his friend and realise he's in Soo's room and listens at
the door. He hears Sweep and Soo playing together and Sooty thinks
he's lost Sweep as a friend forever! Both of the two boys are very
upset, Sooty has a little cry in his room while Sweep who knows he
shares a room with Sooty decides to go to sleep in the garden.

And Yes for Series 50 we do have a clip show… BUT not from 50th Years
(well 46 years with the duo of Sooty and Sweep) but a clip show from
this series along with some sappy forgettable song about Friendship.
And this point I wanted the 50th Years clip show to of happen but
sadly not and while it is a letdown the overall quality of this
episode is good enough to see it through to the end.

Sooty who wakes up after dreaming about all the fun they had this
year goes in search for Sweep and discovers he's outside in the
freezing cold? Along with Miki's help they bring him in as he got
frozen in a block of ice. Waving his wand, Sooty uses his magic to
warm him up. Then Miki tells the two of them to kiss & make up and to
stop fighting because a silly game isn't enough to break up a
lifelong friendship.

Sooty and Sweep realise that no matter how many other friends they
have, they will always be best of friends forever. And its with those
words which we say goodbye to the 50th Season of Sooty. In improve
and learnt the lessons from the previous series which like we said
wasn't the hardest job to do but Best Friends like Santa's Back in
Series 49 was, it is a great way to end a series of Sooty.
