Sooty's Magic "OFFICIALLY ENDED"   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #412 of 643 |

It's sad to report that it looks like the straight to video Sooty
Series "Sooty's Magic" has come to an end. As the toy company Flair
removes it from the site its highly likely this is the end for this
series.
Sooty's Magic was devised by Richard Cadell as a way of teaching
Sooty's core audience simple magic tricks and to inspire future
magicians through its childhood hero. Also it's used to enterain the
young and the young at heart with the mayhem of Sooty and his chums.
The videos were Richard first major hosting dutys with Sooty on his
own and while peoples general comments are mixed about him, it looks
like a good start for the new right hand man for Sooty.
The videos sold well with around 150,000 to 400,000 brought by fans.
So well that the video "Sooty's Magic Club" enter the Children's VHS
Chart in the top 10. It released magic sets were you could do tricks
like Magic Cups, Magic Pencil Case, Magic Box, Magic Swords, Magic
Coin and Magic Ball.
But its downfall overall is Hit Enterainments buy out of Gullane
Enterainment. During this time the video "Sooty's Magic Birthday
Party" was meant to be released on April 29th 2002 but the released
date was push back twice and soon didn't got released in stores and
only the people who pre-order the video got there hands on it.
If you own this video you offically owned the rarest Sooty video
ever and you can ask £40 for it on ebay and if you are crazy enough
to do that i wouldn't put that price down any further.
And as for Flair's Sooty's Magic Toy line the fact is most toy lines
only last about three years or more so Sooty's Magic did well to
last over four years in this tough market.
Unknown if this line will come back in a new form like Learn With
Sooty did in the early 90's but it was good while it lasted.

---------------------LONG LIVE--------------------------------------
-------------SOOTY'S MAGIC---2000 TO 2005---------------------------

So what do you think about the end of the straight to video Sooty
Series "Sooty's Magic". Will you miss it? What did you enjoy from
it? Please do post your comments by replying by this post
