REACHING BRAND NEW SOOTY HEIGHTS ON FACEBOOK
http://www.new.facebook.com/group.php?gid=23781693368

Welcome to Reaching Brand New Sooty Heights on Facebook. For over
seven years, Reaching Brand New Sooty Heights is the biggest Sooty
website on the net and if you're a sooty fan and have the Internet its
the place to go. Everyone here can agree Sooty is the best; no one
will ever question that, and he has been through a lot. With his right
hand men Harry & Matthew Corbett and the new man Richard Cadell they
help keep the show running. And no bear should be without friends; he
has long-time friend Sweep, girl friend Soo, little cousin Scampi and
the tomcat Miki (forget about Butch). So you need a cool informative
site that tells the whole sooty world from start to end. That's where
I came in and from 14/07/2001; "Reaching New Sooty Heights" came
about. We broke the news that a new member will join the Sooty Gang.
We told you it was Miki, all this THREE MONTHS before the series
started. But tragedy strike this group, Yahoo deleted "Reaching New
Sooty Heights" for a long amount of time. It leads us to relaunch the
group "Reaching Brand New Sooty Heights". Supplying a place for
photos, a place to chat about things sooty for members from around the
world. It still runs today and holds all the pictures we got. But
still brighter things were ahead, which lead to us to Moonfruit. On
27th March 2002, Reaching Brand New Sooty Heights.com was launch. From
The Original Club, Reaching Brand New Sooty Heights is the most
excellent, enthusiastic place for Sooty fans. It has everything you
ever what to know about Sooty and anything you will ever need.

Without too much trouble, are new look website should relaunch in 14
days just to let everyone know.

The delay is due to slow internet connection and sorting out our
picture database which totals almost 800 images.

Plus normal life does get in the way, which has been the case for the
last while but i promise i will focus on making this website great
with Sooty's 2009 relaunch something to look forward to.

As always the You Tube Channel will get updated soon with more Sooty
Songs and Clips and more episodes of Locks & Quays.

Just to let everyone know

I have 3 DVDS with episodes from Matthew's early days in the 1970's.
Some of them have a small segment called Harry Rmember's, starring
Harry Corbett. One DVD contains the full series which had a short
serial film in each episode called THE CASE OF THE BLACK HAND. All of
these episodes are in excelent veiwing condition, as they were recorded
to DVD from video cassetes which are 20 years old. These episodes are
still giving my 15 month old son and 4 year old much pleasure.

My Reviews of the two recent Sooty DVDs, Please comment and if you
have also brought these releases, what did u think of it?

Thames Video (now Fremantle Media) has always release episodes from
the 1981 to 1992 Series of The Sooty Show to pick for VHS
compilations and since 2001, DVD compilations. Likely because of the
house setting we have grown to love and the 1981 series was the first
to feature Brenda Longman as the voice of Soo.

No idea why the Marjorie Corbett Soo voiced episodes from the house
setting or Matthew Corbett's hosted live audience shows from when he
took over in 1976 has never been released before, but I can
understand why the 1981 to 1992 era is much easy to release to fans.
I would love DVD releases that aren't connected to the `Childern's
Favourites' line that Fremantle does with Sooty along with Rainbow
and Button Moon and what is the deal with the carry case box for kids
DVD releases lately?

Do note the pictures on the packaging don't link to the episodes
featured on the DVD. It's a crime because you could be tricked on
the `Happy Birthday Sooty' release that there is a Matthew hosted
Sooty Show episode from the 70's, which is awful as it would be nice
to include an episode from that era. Also worth nothing that the up
to date `Sooty Show' logo on the box isn't repeated on the static
menu screen, which goes with a classic Sooty font and a red and blue
background for `Izzy Wizzy' and `Happy Birthday Sooty' respectfully.

Plus they have a recent Sooty picture and a painfully oblivious
Photoshop Magic Wand in his paw. Finally the `Thames' logo has been
replace by a `Fremantle' logo on the end of each episode. So enough
with technical details that isn't going to interest the actual target
demographic for this review and the two new Sooty DVD's, let's talk
about the episodes on each disk.

The Sooty Show – `Izzy Wizzy'
[BUY ON DVD = http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sooty-Show-Izzy-
Wizzy/dp/B0017T1NTA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1219495612&sr=8-3]

`Izzy Wizzy'
From the 1990 series and previously released on the VHS `Sooty Video
Fun Pack', this is a perfect episode of `The Sooty Show'. Because
it's simply enjoyable to watch, reflects on the past with props and
tricks first used in Matthew's live audience 70's shows and the
famous `Go To Bed Sooty' routine that reminds a classic.

`Little Terrors'
Again from the 1990 series and previously released on the VHS `My
Bumper Christmas Sooty', this episode can get tiresome for older fans
but perfect for Sooty's demographic. As it shows the gang playing as
the 5-year-old's they are (with Sweep being Age 4). They play with
little mouse figures and then they make figures of themselves with
vary degree of success. It's strange that such a normal episode is
picked for this release when classics like `Burglar Box', `Time
Capsule' and `The Good, The Bad and The Furry' deserve being included
on a DVD.

`Sooty's Magic Lamp'
From the 1987 series and previous released on the rare VHS `Sooty's
Magic Lamp and other stories', I was about 3 when I first saw this
and it scared me and it's still strange now. About finding a lamp
that has a genie granting wishes, it's one of the oddest episodes
from the best series of The Sooty Show and again only makes you
wonder why was this included on the DVD.

Overall apart from the `Izzy Wizzy' episode, I question why plain
normal and odd episodes got chosen over pure classics in the back
catalogue that Fremantle has.

The Sooty Show – Happy Birthday Sooty
[BUY ON DVD = http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sooty-Happy-Birthday-Matthew-
Corbett/dp/B0017T1NTK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1219495612&sr=8-2]

`Happy Birthday Sooty'
From the 1992 series and previous released on the VHS `Biggest Party
Video', the second last ever episode of `The Sooty Show' is
completely enjoyable. Like `Izzy Wizzy' reflects on Sooty's past,
tours the `Sooty World' attraction and has old friends Rod, Jane and
Freddy come to sing a song. Scampi's appearance in this episode is
also the reason why the `Sooty & Co' lyrics are on the box.

`Want A Pet'
From the 1989 series and previous released on the VHS `Sooty Wants A
Pet', the gang argue which pet that should have for the house,
thinking a dog is too boring until Matthew decides on a dog and
visits a police dog training centre before deciding one dog is more
than enough. It features one of the classic Sooty Songs Matthew has
written and worth watching.

`Honking Nose'
Again from the 1989 series and previous released on two VHS `Sooty's
Favourite Stories' and `Sweep Super Dog' which was the first DVD
Sooty release. It's worth noticing that this episode is a direct
transfer from the `Sweep Super Dog' release. The episode features
Sweep nose and ears making noises and finding out it's the magic
wand's fault. So `Honking Nose' is an enjoyable episode.

Overall this `Happy Birthday Sooty' DVD is worth buying and you agree
it has `3 hilarious adventures' like it claims. You only wish more
classic episodes can get the DVD treatment as soon as possible.

Hi Guys,

I have been trying to remember the name of an episode of Sooty and Co
that I remember seeing when I was younger. A certain bit of the
episode has always stuck in my mind as being my favourite part from the
series. All I can remember is Matthew has asked Sweep to make an
advertising banner for the shop. It is supposed to say "Come to
Sooty's Shop" but because Sweep can't spell he writes it wrong several
times coming up with phrases such as "Cos-Toote-Poo-Smesh" and "Shy-
Tong-Shoot-Soap". Does anyone remeber this particular episode and what
it was called?

Thanks so much,

Peter

He was bought last week for £1m. But did you know his birthday
tribute to Nelson Mandela is the most popular? Or that he always has
a hand in the key moments in our national life? By Cole Moreton

Sunday, 29 June 2008

Of all the birthday tributes received by Nelson Mandela over the past
few days, perhaps the one most likely to bring tears to his eyes was
from Sooty. You can see it on YouTube, alongside those from the
Clintons and the Blairs. The accomplished magician, one of Britain's
best-loved entertainers, waves a wand over a pair of cakes and
transforms them into the number 90 – the birthday celebrated by
Mandela with the stars at Hyde Park on Friday.

"Sooty was deeply honoured to be asked to record a message," said his
latest spokesman yesterday. There are many other tributes available
online, from some of the biggest stars in the world, but the one by
Sooty is the most watched. This should be no surprise. Critics may
call him soft, and there have long been Tom Cruise-style rumours that
his life is controlled by unseen forces, but a close look at his
career reveals Sooty to have been at the heart of British life for
the past six decades.

He's even bigger than Brucie, but it goes way beyond showbiz. Like
Woody Allen's fictional creation Zelig, the real-life Sooty has an
uncanny knack of surfing the ebb and flow of our culture and popping
up at key moments. Whenever something really important happens, Sooty
is there with his water pistol and rubber hammer, bending history
into shape. It started back in July 1948, when he was discovered on a
stall on the North Pier in Blackpool, working under the name of
Teddy. A star was born – in exactly the same month as that other
great British institution, the National Health Service. Can it really
have been a coincidence?

The cakes in the Mandela video say 60 before they say 90, because
both Sooty and the NHS are celebrating their 60th year this month.
Both have had to adapt to survive: Sooty has reinvented himself many
times in the face of sex and drugs scandals, and big money deals;
while the NHS has been through countless reorganisations and crises.
But both still provide a reassuring presence in these difficult
times. You can still see a GP for free, and Sooty is still working
his magic, most recently for Mandela.

"Izzy wizzy," says his handler on the video, invoking a catchphrase
familiar to all, "let's get busy!" Richard Cadell is a fellow
magician who has been helping to host his friend's television shows
for a decade and who acquired the worldwide rights to Sooty's image
and name on Thursday. He paid between £500,000 and a million to wrest
them from Hit Entertainment, the consortium that owns Bob the
Builder. "Recording a public tribute like this is something out of
character for Sooty," says Cadell, the Alastair Campbell to the
star's Tony Blair. Coincidentally, they happen to share the same
management company as the organisers of the Hyde Park festivities.
Spookily, Mandela was born on 18 July and Sooty on the 19th. Still
intensely shy despite his years of stardom, Sooty's preferred method
of communication is to whisper in Cadell's ear. He was persuaded to
come to the phone, briefly, from what sounded like the poolside of a
luxury hotel, but all that could be heard was the lapping of water.

If Sooty is Blair, then Sweep is his Gordon Brown. For years, this
colleague and sidekick has longed to take over as leader, making it
obvious with increasing manic irritability. Now is his chance, at
last. "What's that you're doing?" asks Cadell in the Mandela video,
and in a sign that Sooty has other, more pressing international
affairs of state to worry about these days – the Middle East crisis,
for example – Sweep is allowed to do all the talking. Or squeaking.

"You're texting Nelson Mandela?" says Cadell, surprised. "Do you know
who Nelson Mandela is?" Sweep certainly does. As a person of colour
(grey), he identifies with Mandela's struggle against
apartheid. "He's a charismatic and inspirational world leader," he
says, in squeaks translated by Cadell. Surely yet another case of a
high-profile figure paying tribute to another in words he wishes were
used of him. But Sweep's attempt at leadership very quickly descends
into farce. He just doesn't have Sooty's magic.

Viewers are urged to text Mandela themselves, as the proceeds will go
to charities. But where, they may ask, is Soo? This young Asian woman
is the Cherie Booth of the partnership, out there working the circuit
to bring home the bacon. Or bamboo, in her case. She recently
appeared on a special edition of Anne Robinson's TV quiz, beating
streetwise Roland Rat in the sudden-death round. Soo is not, by any
means, "The Weakest Link".

She has, however, been responsible for much of the scandal
surrounding Sooty, from the moment their (g)love story began in 1964.
Harry Corbett, who discovered Sooty and co-hosted his TV series, was
accused of introducing an unwelcome sexual element into children's
entertainment. Sooty and Soo were banned from touching on screen.
London may have been swinging, but the BBC was not ready for a cross-
cultural relationship (Sooty is no panda) without a wedding ring.
(Where would she put it?) Sue did appear pregnant, years later, but
this turned out to be a practical joke involving a cushion up her
dress.

What is no joke is Soo's place in the feminist pantheon, up there
with Andrea Dworkin. She was, after all, the first of Sooty's peers
to have an actual voice. For saying lines like, "You make the fairy
cakes, Sooty, while I fix this motorbike." She keeps quiet, however,
about the nature of her relationship with Sweep, who is well known to
friends as a bit of a dog. Are they more than just pedigree chums?
Sooty seems to hint at the long-speculated ménage à trois on his new
website, describing the start of his perfect day as when "Soo and
Sweep bring me breakfast in bed". Sweep has made several statements
on the subject, but unfortunately his squeak is intelligible only to
the Corbett family and its friends.

It was Harry Corbett, an engineer and amateur magician from Guisley,
West Yorkshire, who first came across Sooty while he was walking on
the North Pier in Blackpool in 1948 with his wife Marjorie and their
young children, David and Matthew. When Corbett appeared on a BBC
North talent show four years later, he gave his friend a black mouth
and nose, used soot to darken his ears, then suggested a new name.

Sweep joined them in 1957, and Soo seven years later – although they
had to move from the disapproving BBC to ITV in order for Sooty and
Soo to express their love openly. Is it really pushing things too far
to suggest that their free and easy public lifestyle was a catalyst
for the hippie era and the Summer of Love? Or even that this example
of different talents working together for the good of the team could
have been a major inspiration for England's World Cup victory of
1966? They stayed closely in touch with the times: in 1976, just as
young punks such as the Clash and the Sex Pistols were taking over
from the old guard of rock, Matthew Corbett succeeded his father as
the host of The Sooty Show.

He gave way, in turn, to the young magician Richard Cadell in 1998.
Sooty needed to get down with the youth again after failing to be
invited to the infamous Cool Britannia parties at 10 Downing Street.
Sooty had made his name in the Fifties by shooting the Duke of
Edinburgh in the face with a water pistol, and Tony Blair might have
been tempted to enlist his anarchic help with cutting the Royal
Family down to size again. He would been able to count on Sooty the
compulsive whisperer not to blab. But the death of Diana changed
everything. Soon the Blairs fell for the earthier charms of Johnny
Vegas's friend Monkeh.

Like Blair, Sooty sought help from big business. His rights were sold
to Britt Allcroft, who had turned Thomas the Tank Engine into the
Elvis of railway-based infant merchandise, and later on to Hit
Entertainment. But now Cadell, Sooty's loyal friend, has bought back
his independence. He plans more shows, to replace the ones currently
being repeated on CITV, and will also take the old team back to
theatres next year. The Corbett family endorse it all, with Matthew
saying last week, "Richard Cadell is as close to a Corbett as you can
get."

Belatedly, it seems Sooty, the wild man of teatime telly, has also
acquired a conscience. Like almost every ageing rebel around, he is
now expressing his love for Mandela. The message was recorded as part
of an attempt to set the world record for the biggest birthday card
ever. As we went to press, the country that had sent the most
messages was Tanzania, with nearly 30,000. There were only six from
Zimbabwe. On Thursday Mandela accused that country's President Mugabe
of "a tragic failure of leadership".

There are calls for him to go further. Now that the personal
connection with Sooty has been revealed, perhaps Mandela will appeal
to Mugabe in the words of the legendary madcap entertainer himself.
It is time, he could suggest, to say to the people of Zimbabwe what
Sooty's friends say to the world at the end of each broadcast: "Bye
bye, everybody, bye bye!"

We did ask Sooty to comment on this. As ever, he was saying nothing.

Dear all,

I am glad that everyone is as pleased as I am that Richard has bought Sooty.

I was thrilled when Richard phoned me to tell me the news. As a ex-puppeteer on
Sooty, I was saddened when Sooty was dropped from TV and the theatre production
values went down the pan. I worked on Sooty Heights and theatre tours with
Richard before Sooty was sold on. However, now that Sooty is in the hands of
someone I know cares about him I know Sooty will bounce back. The only other
person who could do as much for Sooty is Matthew, and I know he too is as
pleased that Richard has saved him. I have to say that Richard will put every
ounce of his energy into Sooty as he had always done and that always came across
on the screen.

I wish Richard and his brother all the very best and I know Sooty is back to
stay!
Craig Almond

It feels so good to FINALLY!!! post some really good Sooty News at
last. News from The Stage Newspaper.

Children's TV favourite Sooty has been bought by the show's presenter
Richard Cadell on the puppet's 60th birthday.

Cadell, who has been presenting the show since 1998, purchased the
rights to Sooty from Bridgefilms for a "significant sum".

He told The Stage he is currently working on new material for a live
tour entitled Sooty in Space, which will premiere in February,
following smaller shows in Butlins resorts around the country. Cadell
will also appear in a pantomime with the bear and his sidekick Sweep,
alongside former EastEnders actress Letitia Dean, at the Grove
Theatre in Dunstable. The show will be produced by his production
company Duo Entertainment.

He said: "The routines that I've been presenting are Harry Corbett's
[creator of Sooty] from the fifties and the kids still scream with
laughter, exactly the same way that they did 50 years ago. Kids
haven't changed. We've got a revival of Paddington Bear, Rupert,
Basil Brush, names that parents now trust.

"Look at society and knife crime, I'm sure that is influenced by
computer games and graphics. I think people are now thinking back to
how things were - simple, with good values, and I think Sooty falls
into that category."

Cadell, who first appeared as a guest on the show at the age of 15,
is also developing three formats for a new TV series. Plans include a
sitcom-style show based on the puppets working in a handyman agency,
a studio-based live variety show and a pre-school game show. He said
he has also piloted a radio programme with the silent puppet and is
looking to expand on that.

This month marks the 60th year since Corbett bought the Sooty puppet
from Blackpool pier as a present for his son Matthew, before
transforming it into a TV show for the BBC in 1952. Corbett Jnr went
on to present the programme from 1976 and sold the rights in 1996 for
£1.4 million, following his retirement.

He said: "I'm delighted that Sooty is in, or should I say on, the
right hands. Richard Cadell is as close to a Corbett as you can get
and we're very confident that he will give Sooty the love and
attention he deserves."

Hi Richard,

Great to hear from you! Have you thought of buying Sooty yourself -
it would be great to see him back with you by his side!

I agree about some of the ropey episodes (never did understand what
that Miki was all about) - the last series were good though, I reckon
you went out on a high! Which did you like and not like?

Theme park looks great btw!

Best wishes

Mark

WOW Hi Richard. I loved watching Sooty & Co., Sooty Heights and Sooty
when I was younger (I'm 14 now). I've got most of the Sooty Heights
episodes on DVD (25 out of 26). I'll try and copy them for you, but I
wouldn't know where to send them - the Brean Amusement Park address?

I went to see the Comedy and Chaos Tour in 2003 - it was great!

It's great to see you so busy! You were great on Convention Crasher
and its good to see you havent just settled down :D.

I was wondering - did you do any stage tours with Liana - I never
remember them.

But yeah it's great to see you on hear, just yesterday I was watching
Friends and Romans on CITV (the pillow fight/Scalextric-chariot race
episode) GREAT! I noticed a picture of Matthew in the background!

It's so great you're here - *smiles*.

You did Sooty proud though - the Sooty Heights years have got to be
my favourite. It's a shame Sooty's not on TV anymore - do you know if
the current tours star Brenda Longman as Soo?

Anyway, great to talk to you, hope you reply. Oh, I'll just show you
how my first DVD turned out - - the ones I send you would be in the
same vein. I used the Comic Sans font to look like the later Sooty
series.

Anyway, its great you're on here. Thanks for your hard work on Sooty!

Peter.

This is the definitive Episode Guide. I have made great new Wiki
articles for Sooty Heights and the 2000s series Sooty. This guide is
also on the Sooty Heights article.

By using air guides and noticing Sooty Ltd. titlecards, I have worked
out where The Hounds of Music and You Must Be Joking fit into series 2.

Series 1
1. Desperately Seeking Squeaky
2. The Hottest Place In Town
3. Water, Water Everywhere
4. The Best of Health
5. Hidden Treasure
6. Friends and Romans
7. Battle of the Bands
8. The Great Supremo
9. Jumble
10. Fast Food
11. Bumps in the Night
12. Double-O-Sooty
13. A Christmas Carrot

Series 2
1. To Care is to Share
2. Guard Dog Wanted
3. Vets and Pets
4. Manic Organic
5. Undercover Sooty
6. Vote for Soo
7. Too Many Cooks
8. A Sense of Business
9. Dog Brain of Britain
10. The Hounds of Music
11. You Must Be Joking
12. The Quest
13. Sooty and the Beanstalk

All I have to say is that Brian's site is confusing and contradicts it
self. One section it shows 24 episodes, yet on the main Sooty Heights
page talks about there being 26 episodes, therefore confusing me
greatly.

Anyway, my DVDs will turn out like this.

SOOTY HEIGHTS
DISC 1: Series 1: Episodes 1-6
DISC 2: Series 1: Episodes 7-12
DISC 3: Series 2: Episodes 2-7
DISC 4: Series 2: Episodes 8-13

SOOTY
DISC 5: Series 1: Episodes 1-6
DISC 6: Series 1: Episodes 7-12

I will have one more episode, 48.1 To Care is To Share, which will
probably have to go on its own. Therefore the only Sooty Heights episode
I will NOT have is the finale of Series 1, A Christmas Carrot.

The only Sooty Series 1 episode I will be missing will be episode 13,
Santa's Back.

I hope during the middle of May these two episodes will be aired.

Therefore, by Saturday 3rd May, I will have 36 episodes from 1999-2001.
I hope, by airing 47.1 and 49.13, I will have 38 episodes from that era,
meaning both series of Sooty Heights and the first series of Sooty.

Ok. I've searched around. Used the RBNSH guides, which seem to be
partially incorrect, yet lots of things seem to contradict each other.

Here's my list so far:

Series 1
1. Desperately Seeking Squeaky
2. The Hottest Place In Town
3. Water, Water Everywhere
4. The Best of Health
5. Hidden Treasure
6. Friends and Romans

Series 2
1. To Care is to Share
2. Guard Dog Wanted
3. Vets and Pets
4. Manic Organic
5. Undercover Sooty
6. Vote for Soo
7. Too Many Cooks
8. A Sense of Business
9. Dog Brain of Britain

Unplaced
Battle of the Bands
The Great Supremo
Jumble
Fast Food
Bumps in the Night
Double-O-Sooty
You Must Be Joking
A Christmas Carrot
Fast Food
The Quest
Sooty and the Beanstalk
The Hounds of Music

It's SO complicated.
Series 1 "Sooty Ltd." titlecards shown at the end of the credits
where on a purple background with the cartoon Sooty logo.

Series 2 "Sooty Ltd." titlecards were similar, but more 3D and with a
yellow background.

Brian placed Hounds of Music in Series 1, yet the titlecard displays
Sooty Ltd. 2000 and is the yellow version.

I'm not sure how many episodes there are and where they go.

For example, I've never heard of Battle of the Bands (although the
name comes from a Sooty and Co. episode I remember), or Fast Food.
Yet they seem to exist.

CITV have started showing Series 1 again. I believe the first 6
episodes they have shown are the first six from Series 1. But then
Brian's guide starts contradicting the air schedule.

After Battle of the Bands, supposedly episode 7, they are showing The
Great Supremo, shown on Brian's site with a different name, and then
Jumble, on Brian's site "Scampi's Painting". Afterwards they will
show Fast Food, an episode that I havent heard of, and then Bumps in
the Night, followed by another unheard one, Double-O-Sooty.

They don't show You Must Be Joking and A Christmas Carrot, both from
the end of Series 1, going straight to the start of Series 2 with To
Care is To Share.

Does anyone have A DEFINITIVE GUIDE OF BOTH SERIES, which IMO should
have an equal number in each?? It seems there are 27 episodes, as
apposed to 24. Another site I looked on ALSO refers to a 28th episode
named "Vote for Safety", a similar name to Vote for Soo. This,
however, doesnt have an episode desctiption.

HELP! PLEASE. When numbering my episodes on DVD, they will become
incorrect if this is new. I will probably redo them with episode
names as apposed to numbers.

The email I sent you yesterday was incorrect. There are 13 episodes
which started on Monday. To fill three weeks with weekday slots,
starting from the week beginning 3rd March, on Thursdays at 3pm
Preston Pig will be shown. So basically here's a rundown:

Monday 25th Feb: Sooty
Tuesday 26th Feb: Sooty
Wednesday 27th Feb: Sooty
Thursday 28th Feb: Sooty
Friday 29th Feb: Sooty

Monday 3rd March: Sooty
Tuesday 4th March: Sooty
Wednesday 5th March: Sooty
Thursday 6th March: Preston Pig
Friday 7th March: Sooty

Monday 10th March: Sooty
Tuesday 11th March: Sooty
Wednesday 12th March: Sooty
Thursday 13th March: Preston Pig
Friday 14th March: Sooty (final Series 1 (2001) episode)

Hopefully afterwards the final two series will be shown - these have
10 episodes each.

I meant 2.10, but in the end they've started showing the 2001 series of
Sooty! Just thought I'd post this!

Weekdays, 3pm, CITV Channel.

At the moment I've been burning episodes of Sooty Heights to DVD from
V+. I only realised it had started when the second episode of Series
Two was on. So on one disc I have Series 2, Episodes 2-7.

I'd assumed Series One had already been shown, as Series Two started
on a Wednesday, allowing 12 episodes to have been shown before hand.
I assumed they'd show all of Series Two next.

But this week (beginning 4th Feb) they're showing

episode 9 of Series Two on Monday,
then Episode 7 of Series One (Hounds of Music) on Tuesday,
Episode 11 of Series One on Wednesday,
then Episode 11 of Series Two on Thursday,
and Episode 12 of Series Two on Friday,

therefore missing out Episode 10 of Series Two, Desperately Seeking
Squeak!

THEN, over half term (Week beginning 11th Feb) Sooty isn't even on!
Let's hope it returns after half term with 2.12 and then Sooty from
2001!

ALSO, I just thought I'd show you a pic of my first Sooty Heights
DVD - I think it looks quite professional!

In 1997, I went to see The House That Sooty Built. In 2004, I went to
see The Comedy and Chaos Tour, starring Richard Cadell. Currently, I'm
comprising stage show information for the Sooty Wikipedia article. But I
need some help.

I'm trying to get a list of all the Sooty tours/stage shows in order and
when they were. The information I have at the moment is this:

     * I have a Sooty Magazine that includes tour dates for The Magic and
Mayhem Tour. These dates show that it was on from Winter 2001 til Spring
2002.
     * There is a section on the stage shows on Wikipedia with this
information (before I edited it): Sooty also had a successful number of
(mainly Christmas) stage shows across the UK. During Matthew Corbett's
reign, the following stage shows were performed repetitively:

     * Sooty's Creepy Castle     * Sooty's Picnic     * Sooty's World
Cruise * Sooty's Wild West Show * Sooty In Space * Sooty's
Circus * The House That Sooty Built

Richard Cadell performed three specific Sooty stage shows alongside
Liana Bridges. They were:

     * Sooty's Magical Mystery Tour     * Sooty's Treasure Hunt     *
Sooty's Magic Farm
     * Then from 2005, there has been a yearly tour with little publicity.
I found out about it by searching around. I have seen some clips
(http://www.jbentertainmentandevents.com/clip1.html
<http://www.jbentertainmentandevents.com/clip1.html> ) from one of the
shows and the ones I have seen show a male presenter.

Questions

     * Does anybody have a list of all of the stage shows in order with
dates? Please reply if you do.
     * Who is the mysterious male presenter in the Izzy Wizzy Holiday
Show, and who presented the other "post-2005" shows?
     * Does anybody have any promotional flyers/pictures/clips from ANY of
the Sooty stage shows, mainly the ones with Liana and Richard in? I
still have the programme for The Comedy and Chaos Tour.

Thank you! I am currently enjoying the re-runs of Sooty Heights and I am
burning to DVD from my V+ box!

I also have three final questions about the TV series!

     * Once series two of Sooty Heights has ended its run on the CITV
Channel, will series 49, 50 and 51 be shown?
     * After series 50 with the odd looking retro puppets, did they change
back to the usual puppets? If so, I don't believe I ever watched series
51, as I cant remember them changing back.
     * What year did the final series air, and was the final series no.
51?

THANKS! Peter, Sooty fan since birth!

great! Great to see he's still busy, sadly without his puppet friend!
