Many of you will have noticed that our website has been unavailable since Wednesday. This is due to a problem with the server, but it should be fixed Tuesday evening.

The Morton Stanley Family Fun Day last Saturday was a great success. Veggie/vegan caterers(booked by the council) were busy throughout, as were we on the RVV info stall. A report with photos will be going up on our website asap. If you havn`t already seen it, the following letter appeared in Friday`s Redditch Standard.

Vegetarian caterer was a great idea

I would like to congratulate Redditch Borough Council on its decision to employ a vegetarian caterer for the fun day at Morton Stanley Park on August 12.

It was so pleasant to be able to enjoy such a well organised summer event without the nauseous smell of burning animal flesh emanating from pig roasts and barbecues. Many people would have been agreeably surprised to discover how tasty the meat-free food was and very reasonably priced compared to meat products.

I understand the decision was taken on environmental and ethical grounds, as meat uses up far more of the earth`s resources. Government research has also shown that a vegetarian diet is far healthier than a meat-based one.
