Meeting/Social - Wed 6th Sept & Forthcoming Events   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #107 of 683 |

Our next meeting/social will take place on Wednesday 6 Sept, at our usual venue, St Georges Community Hall. Refreshments available from 7.15pm, meeting to start 7.30pm. The guest speaker that was booked for this meeting, can sadly no longer attend! But there is still plenty to discuss:

  • Feedback from our various stalls at recent local events (incl the Morton Stanley Fun Day which featured veggie/vegan catering!! Read report here )
  • We plan to discuss a venue/date for our next group meal out (we need your suggestions of good local restaurants) We hope to go for a Thursday or Friday evening this time, as many people were unable to attend our Wednesday meal at The Little Lark in Studley ( Read report here
  • Forthcoming events, sanctuary open days, stalls etc(see below) In particular, TEACHING COMPASSION - Cruelty Free Fair & Talks in Coventry - Several group members will be helping at this event, but more help would be appreciated.

Forthcoming Events

Sept - Viva!`s Britain Goes Veggie Month - This year`s theme is the environment. We now have 100`s of copies of Viva!`s brand new leaflet which exposes the massive environmental impact of the meat/dairy industry. We hope to hold as many stalls as possible during September, and we also plan to go door to door leafletting with Viva!`s `Honey - I`ve eaten a whole menagerie` leaflet. If you would like to get involved, please contact us. Viva! will very shortly be launching their brand new website www.timetogoveggie.com

Sun 17 Sept - Farm Animal Sanctuary Open Day, 1pm - 5pm - See the 100`s of rescued animals, browse the many stalls etc. We will have a stall there ourselves. Farm Animal Sanctuary, School Lane, Middle Littleton, Evesham WR11 5LN. For further info call Janet Taylor on 01386 832640.

Sat 30 Sept - TEACHING COMPASSION - Cruelty Free Fair & Talks in Coventry, 10.30am - 4.30pm - This is a very exciting event, unique in the Midlands region. There will be a full programme of talks throughout the day and many stalls from national animal protection groups. Several members of RVV will be helping on the day but more help is needed. Call Julie on 02476 634115 if you can help in any way. See Coventry Veggies & Vegans website for the full programme of talks, a list of stallholders, celebrity supporters and lots more...

Sun 1 Oct - Studley Animal Blessings Service, 3pm - The theme this year is farm animals. All donations will go to the Farm Animal Sanctuary above. To be followed by refreshments. There`ll be a local, organic produce stall and we hope to hold a small information stall ourselves. St Mary`s Church, Castle Road, Studley. Call Ursula on 857818 for further details.

Wed 4 Oct - RVV meeting - we are in the process of arranging a guest speaker. Hopefully either Lyn from Hillfields(see below) or Tim Woodley from the successful vegan soap company, Red Star Natural Liquid Soaps. We`ll let you know as soon as we can!

Sun 8 Oct - Hillfields Animal Sanctuary Open Day, 11am - 3.30pm - See the rescued animals & many stalls inside the church hall opposite. We will have a stall there ourselves. Hillfields Sanctuary, Greenhill, Blackwell, Bromsgrove B60 1BL. Could you hold a stall there yourself?? For further info call Lyn Tudor on 0121 459 3179 or see http://www.hillfields-sanctuary.co.uk/

Hope you can come along to 1 or 2 of these events,

Best wishes,

Kevin
