Over the past year or so, there has been some discussion about setting up a food co-op for Redditch, both amongst members of Redditch Veggies and at an Eco Congregation meeting. There is certainly lots of interest, i`m sure it would be well used, but as yet, nobody seems to be offering to start the ball rolling and organise it! Part of the problem is that lots of people are already tied up with what they already do, without taking on something else.

RVV have now formed an alliance with various local ethical, social justice, environmental groups. The Redditch Alliance of Greens (RAG) is due to be launched soon, with a website, newsletter and a special film showing at the town hall. I`ll post more details on this list when we have them. It could be that at some point in the future, the collective power of RAG will be able to set the wheels in motion for a food co-op, only time will tell.

Is there anyone out there who would be interested in setting up a food
co-op to buy fairly traded / organic / veggie / vegan food? I do not
wish to give my money to any of the major supermarkets or Holland and
Barrett who are owned by multinational Monsanto. Food co-ops order
wholesale food directly from the producer, thus making good quality
food cheaper for the consumer and cutting out the greedy middle man.
Don't know how many people you would need to set it up but I'm sure
somebody out there would be able to help. Please get in touch if you
are interested.
