I just got this email from Sainsburys:

Subject: RE: Our Products - General information

Thank you for your email.  I understand you would like to know if we have stopped printing the vegan sign on products that are suitable for people following a vegan and vegetarian diet.

I can confirm that it is our policy to label products that are suitable for vegans, as "suitable for vegetarians and vegans", using the Sainsbury's vegetarian and vegan logo.  The only exceptions are those groups of products which are obviously vegan (and where our vegan customers have indicated that labelling is unnecessary).  Examples of these products include plain waters, unseasoned flours, plain fruit and vegetables.

The position of the logo on the pack may differ from product to product.  This is due to the different pack formats and the presence of other key messages.

I also understand you would like to know if we have a list of vegan products we currently sell.  I am sorry to tell you that we do not have this type of list.  We used to offer a vegan guide, but there was not enough demand for them, so we decided to stop producing them.

You may be interested to know that we have lots of vegan recipes and information featured on our website.  To view these recipes, please visit our website at www.sainsburys.co.uk.

Thank you once again for taking the time to contact us and for giving us the chance to explain our position on this matter.  I do hope this information helps you and that you will enjoy our vegan products in the future.
