Talk highlights alternative to animal testing
Redditch Standard 2/3/07
A PUBLIC meeting will take place in the town next week where an expert researcher will be discussing the alternatives to biological testing on animals.
Julie Roberts from the Dr Hadwen Trust for Humane Research will talk to residents on Wednesday (March 7) about the progress of the charity which researches alternatives to animal experiments.
The event has been organised by the Redditch Vegetarian & Vegan Society (RVV) which is inviting anyone interested in the work of the trust to attend.
Kevin White from RVV said: "Julie will talk about the progress the trust has made in finding treatments for illnesses and demonstrate why animal experiments are so fundamentally flawed."
"Due to species differences animal test results are unreliable and can be dangerously misleading when applied to humans, often resulting in serious side effects or even death."
The talk takes place at St Georges Community Hall, St Georges Road at 7.15pm and admission is free.
