The biggest date in Redditch`s green calendar has been hailed a huge success.

More than 20 stalls packed out St Stephen`s Church hall and green for the Redditch Green Fair on Saturday.

The event was held to promote sustainable, eco-friendly ways of living and to showcase green organisations and companies.

Eco-friendly products on display included electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, ethical clothing and recycled stationery. Hungry visitors tucked into free vegan food as they were entertained by African percussionists Talking Drums.

Redditch Alliance of Greens member Kevin White said he was overwhelmed with the success of the event.

He said: "Crowds of people flocked into the church grounds throughout the day and all stallholders reported good sales and lots of interest in the issues they were highlighting.

"Clearly, we only have one planet earth. Sadly, most people in the Western World are currently living as though we have the use of resources from several planets and if we continue, environmental catastrophe looms.

"The good news is that `one planet living` is easily achievable and that is the main message we wanted to get across at the fair."
