Residents are tonight invited to a meeting of the Redditch Vegetarian and Vegan Society (RVV) for a demonstration and talk about making cosmetics from everyday kitchen ingredients.

The meeting aims to show there is no need to buy expensive branded products when people can raid the kitchen instead.

Kevin White, of RVV, said: "As a child, Nazama Azmat learnt many tricks from her mother and grandmother about using natural kitchen ingredients as cosmetics.

"You can learn about treatment recipes that have been handed down through family generations.

"This event will interest both men and women, and non-vegetarians.

"Nazama will give beauty tips and demonstrate on a volunteer some easy to make, effective skin care treatments using everyday kitchen ingredients.

"You will have the opportunity to smell and test some of the cosmetics, and go away with some useful recipes.

"Why spend lots of money on beauty and skin care products which may well contain harmful, toxic ingredients, when you have an array of natural cosmetics at your fingertips in your kitchen?"

The meeting will take place at St Georges Community Hall from 7.15pm. Everyone is welcome and admission is free.
