AEGEE's Summer University application is now open (deadline: 13 May)



AEGEE is a multidisciplinary student association, represented in 42
countries all over Europe and gathers 15.000 members in 241 chapters. AEGEE
strives for European integration and better understanding between the
different peoples from Europe.



The Summer University application is open; all members of AEGEE can hand in
their application from March 27 until May 13 via the official Summer
University web page www.aegee.org/su



The Summer University Project is the largest volunteer-based mobility
programme in Europe. It has influenced the lives of young people in Europe
for 20 years now involving more than 6000 persons each year from more than
40 European countries; from Portugal to Azerbaijan, and from Finland to
Malta.



The project aims at opening a new perspective to the participants over the
multicultural dimension of the European continent. With the events we would
like to promote the rich cultural heritage and foster mutual understanding
among different language communities all over Europe with a special focus on
young people.



Summer Universities are meant to promote cultural exchange, mutual
understanding, language skills (and their importance in personal
development) and active citizenship by removing national divisions,
overcoming prejudices and upholding a European feeling. The project has been
several times nominated as NGO example of Student Mobility across Europe.



A Summer University is usually a two-week event organised by an AEGEE local
and where about 20 to 60 students come together from all over Europe. Summer
Universities are organised by young volunteering people for young people.
The activities carried out during a Summer University range from academic
activities as classes to learn a foreign language, different courses on
technical themes to multicultural activities.



Please note that these Summer Universities are open to youth with
disability.
