Wow, Pete - two weeks in southeast Asia and it looks like you've already been usurped in your role as Rev social coordinator.

Sounds like good times, Keen. I'm in like sin.

Dear Rev,

Carping the Diem, I am calling everyone out for a wine tasting event at London Bridge this Friday as the next London Rev club social. Tickets at Ł15 and there are 150 Chilean wines to choose from. Location is in the Glazier's Hall near London Bridge.

I trust all the usual suspects will be coming and so have booked 10 tickets ahead of time on a first come first served basis. This is also a great opportunity for new players to get to know us better so please do make the effort (do I REALLY need to twist your arm for this? Really?)

RSVP right away, please, so you aren't disappointed when the ticket inevitably sell out!

Dear Rev,

Directions and schedule in the link below. We have the benefit of a late start so there is NO EXCUSE FOR BEING LATE. We will look to start our warmups at 1130am at pitchside at field #6.

It is a knockout format in our division so we have a great opportunity to do very well indeed!

Cheers and beers,

Schedule and directions are on the UKU website:
http://www.ukultima te.com/2009/ 11/15/london_ winter_league_ open_matchday_ 1

Remember to check TFL website if coming by public transport.

Seems like Sunday is going to be OK - but evidently there's a storm comin'. If
anything changes we will send notices to all the usual email-groups and try to
contact teams directly if we have a contact mobile number. Otherwise assume
everything is going ahead as per the schedule.

Small note about the women division: check the note on the schedule about
extending the length of your games - we've built in an extra game-slot so that
your three games can be longer if you like.

See you Sunday.

Dear all, I hope you have sorted yourselves out with UKU membership etc per the information on the link I sent you. I will publish schedules once I get that information (probably Sat morning if I know how these work)

I will be taking the train on Sunday morning from Waterloo to arrive at Putney Bridge at about 8am if anyone wants to coordinate.

Those of you without kit, our colours are black shirts and red shirts. I strongly recommend wearing football studs / cleats or similar boots, or else you will be sliding all over the place.

The first Winter League is always an adventure as we never really know who we will be facing, so come prepared to do battle!

Everyone, please bring
Cheers and beers,
Adam Keen

For those not on Facebook, the team looks like this, only 11 so there is room for more people (hinting heavily at the cc'd people)! We will work out costs on the day depending on how many we have so bring cash.

Dear Rev, The first proper training session was very well attended and blessed with beautiful weather. Thank you everyone who paid attention and made sure you were ready to go at 1130am. For the latecomers, please make the effort to arrive on time. Because of the new structures and tactics we are working on, it is frustrating for the players who have drilled the new plays but be unable to practice them in the scrimmage because everyone is not on the same page. Things to note: 1. Rev practices are now "official" and so will each be organised as Facebook events. Please RSVP well in advance so we know we will have the numbers for a proper practice. If the numbers are not there, the practice will be called off, simple as that. 2. Fitness is everyone's individual responsibility. As a minimum, I suggest 2 cardio sessions a week of at least 40 mins, and daily core work of about 5 minutes (planks and bridges, if you don't know, then ask me at next practice). When Peter Meldrum gets back from Hong Kong, we will be able to organise team track sessions, again. 3. Christmas Booze Up! If you are keen to offer up you lovely home for a team social (yes Rob, I am talking to you!) then please let me know a convenient Friday night in December! As you will have heard a number of times by now, there is no practice on Sat the 14th because we are all playing Winter League on the 15th. RSVP now if you have not already. See you all there! Cheers and beers, London Revolution

Dear all, Sorry to be a spud but I misread the dates and our Winter League is on the 15th, not the 8th. This means that practice is on as usual on the 7th of November, at 11am. See you all there! Cheers and beers, Adam K

Dear Rev, for those of you NOT of Facebook (come on, get with the times already), message from Malcolm copied below:

Here is RevNews No.2, I’m putting in an index at the top so you can quickly see all the topics at a glance. I’ve had good feedback since sending the first one of these out, but I realize it was a bit late in the week for some people to read before Saturday.

1. London Winter League
2. Last Weekend’s Pick-up
3. Saturday 31st Pick-up
4. Start of Training Nov 7th

---------------------------------------------------

1. London Winter League

The aim is to enter all 4 London Winter League events. This will be instead of Saturday training on the following dates:

No Training Saturday Nov 14th Winter League Sunday Nov 15th
No Training Saturday Dec 12th Winter League Sunday Dec 13th
No Training Saturday Jan 9th Winter League Sunday Jan 10th
No Training Saturday Feb 6th Winter League Sunday Feb 7th

All events are in Wimbledon and directions/timings will be posted soon.

We will have the opportunity to implement the structure that we are building into our play and a chance to get used to enjoying each other’s company on the field. We might even win some games in the process.

These dates will be added to facebook. Please start confirming your attendance now. You are part of London Revolution and this is part of our preparation for next years Tour.

2. Last Weekend’s Pick-up

There were enough players to scrap out 4 on 4 for a couple of hours on Saturday. This allowed both teams to practice moving the disc off the line with the handler cutting upfield and the front of stack coming back for the dump. Even with limited numbers when everyone moved together the flow was definitely there.

We played at Gloucester Gate because the numbers were so short – but it seemed more productive to stay separate from LSE. Everyone there got to work on their throws, cut hard and get some blocks.

3. Saturday 31st Pick-up

The final pre-season pick-up will be this Saturday. Please try to get there to bootup and throw around from 11am so that we can start playing at 11:30. This will be the same deal for practice and if we don’t get into the habit soon we will end up with a lot of hanging around on Saturday mornings.

Following the warm up and sprint pods we will focus again on the handler system and people timing their cuts from the stack to benefit from the new structure. We’ll also run hard and start stretching the field with bigger throws.

4. Start of Training Nov 7th

This will be the first training session for the 2009/10 London Revolution season. Let’s hit the ground running with a big turn out. Each Saturday training will be preplanned so that we can move from warm-up, to drills, to game situations and then scrimmage.

You will be expected to arrive at 11am to get your boots on and start throwing. Warm up will then begin at 11:30. This is your window to be late – aiming to arrive at 11 and arriving at 11:20 is fine, aiming for 11:30 and being twenty minutes late will mess up the flow for everyone and seriously effect how much we all get from each session.

On Nov 7th you will be introduced to the drills we will be working through which match the structure we have already begun implementing at pick-up. You will also get a walk through of that structure – with the plan to play with the system on the following Sunday’s London Winter League.

------------------------------------------------------

Thanks again for reading this far

Hey Rev,

Won't be at training this week ("tomorrow") or the next as I'll be touring about southern England for the next 10 days or so. (By the way, if you have any good suggestions about places not to be missed I'd be keen to hear them.) Plan on being back in London next Sat (31 Oct) or Sun (1 Nov).

Hey all,

Just a quick reminder...

Come one, come all any time after around 7pm to our Angel flat at the following address:

15 Duncan Terrace
Islington
N1 8BZ
(buzzer is labelled "Miller, Mann, Brazo")

We'll be offering an assortment of things, including appies, mixers for drinks, and an assortment of random stuff to give away because we're not sure to do with all the crap we've accumulated over the last year. Who knows, you might get lucky and take home something nice...

If you have any special requests, just send me an e-mail and I'll see what I can do. Also, here's my mobile if you need it:

Cheers,

Hey Rev,

Now that we've all gotten our X-Factor fix for the week, let's move on to more important business...

As some of you may know, Patricia and I have been sub-letting a flat here in Angel for the past few weeks. We've only got about a week left on our contract, and we haven't even properly made use of the place yet. So, in keeping with the spirit of regular Rev get-togethers, we thought we'd throw open our doors for a little "knees-up" this weekend. (Someone will have to explain that one to me later...)

Unfortunately we won't be offering a "doodle" with a choice of dates: the party will be this Friday (16th October). Hopefully this works for most of you as we'd really like to see you all out. Same rules as for Pete's end-of-season shindig: everyone is welcome (friends, significant others, non-frisbee people, etc.) provided they plan on having a good time. Kevin, feel free to invite/bring some of your "new recruits".

As for timing, we're pretty flexible. For now we'll say from 19:00 onwards. That way, even those of you who turn into pumpkins at midnight (e.g. Mal) can enjoy the evening.

Keen tells me he is already in. He will allegedly be bringing a few bottles from his "private collection" at home - an ominous beginning. Feel free to bring whatever other beverages you might wish to consume and/or share with others. (As Patricia and I get ready to pack our lives into boxes, we likely won't be able to offer much more than half a bottle of bourbon whiskey and some mulled wine. Perhaps an ecclectic array of snacks as well.)

Here is our address:

15 Duncan Terrace
N1 8BZ
(buzzer is labelled "Miller, Mann, Brazo")

Easiest way here is to take the Northern Line to Angel. We live more or less "behind" the Angel Tube station - less than a 5-min walk from the station. Just search the address online - we should be pretty easy to find.

Let me know if I'm forgetting anything. Otherwise, looking forward to a good ol' "hootenanny" on Friday evening. (I'll explain that one to you later...)

Cheers,

Lars

Cheers,

Lars

Hey Rev

Unless you've been under a rock until now, you probably know that XEUCF (I.e. Europeans by Club) will be held next weekend, from Thursday to Sunday, here in London at our doorstep. The fields are near Heathrow.

You should definitely go and watch the best ultimate in Europe.

There will be awesome games from the first day.

The real clash of the titans will be on Friday at 14:40 on field 10 where Fully Charged (featuring Aidan and Simon) will meet Jokers (featuring me). It will be carnage.

All information is on http://www.xeucf200 9.org/ .

I'd print directions and schedule now. Experience shows that the website of any big tournament reliably crashes the day before the tournament starts.

There is also a party on Saturday night, which hopefully will be a bit more exciting than the one at nationals.

Hey Rev,

Anybody planning to go check out some of the action at XEUCF? I was thinking of heading out either Saturday or Sunday. Anyone interested?

Lars
