ROBBIE WILLIAMS is hosting Alcoholics Anonymous
meetings at his own private members’ BAR. The singer,
hooked on booze and drugs until a year ago, uses the
trendy Century club as a venue for get-togethers with
other reformed drinkers. <br><br>They meet in a room
surrounded by bars — there’s one next to it, another above
and a third below. Robbie personally invites other
recovering alcoholics to the sessions by email. Yet because
the room is closed off to the public, the club’s
clientele, which includes NICOLE KIDMAN, DENISE VAN OUTEN
and LINDA EVANS, are totally unaware of the meetings.
<br><br>One Century insider said: “This must be the strangest
place to have an AA meeting but Robbie seems happy with
it and has had several in the last couple of months.
They have a nice big room and plenty of privacy.
Robbie sends out all the invitations by e-mail and the
people in there know each other quite well. It is a
great way of improving willpower by being so close to
alcohol yet resisting the temptation to drink any.
Sometimes they all go to the bar afterwards although they
are strictly on virgin cocktails, non-alcoholic beer
or water.” <br><br>Robbie, who has attended AA
meetings in London and Los Angeles, invested £1.5million
in Century ten months ago. He co-owns the club in
London’s West End with top restaurateur Pierre Condou.
Robbie’s film Nobody Someday, which came out on Monday,
shows how he went to his bedroom to play cards and
drank water after recent concerts rather than join the
rest of his band partying and boozing.
