Hi everyone here! :)
Sorry to bother you by writing in english but I live in France and
can't speak any danish -- even if I'm able to understand a word or two
here and there. I guess this place is the best way to interact with
many S-tog fans so I decided to drop a note.
I'm quite interested in S-bahn networks all around Europe.
Copenhagen's S-tog network is really impressing me because of its
simplicity. Every 10/20 minutes every day and all year long there's a
train stopping at your usual station going to/from København H! That's
not so common.
But I'm wondering how this very attractive service for commuters is
planned for train drivers during summer. Usually summer timetables are
less dense than winter ones to allow workers to go on holiday during
july and august (and also because there's not many people using public
transport at those times). Does someone here know how DSB is achieving
this? Are train drivers forced to go on holiday every time of year? Is
there any recruitment specifically done to replace them for 2 or 3
three months?
Thanks for your help :)
