Welcome to Salmon travellers tales,a group for researchers of the genealogy of the SALMON FAMILY of Finchingfield,
Great Bardfield,Stebbing,Dunmow,London,Hackney and many more in the counties of Essex and Middlesex,England.
The group was begun in October 2007 by Lyn and Iris who met nearly 8 years ago whilst researching the Salmons. In a very short period we have found family as far away as Australia and hope to build our tree into a history site that our ancestors would be proud of.
Here are a few pointers that will help new members navigate the site.......
1. All of the messages put on the site will also be sent automatically to your email address.
2. The easiest way to get onto the site is to click on the link within your email, which says 'visit our group'. Another way to navigate is to put 'yahoo groups' into Google and find the site that way.
3.The bar on the left hand side is your main navigation tool.
4.Start by reading the messages and familiarising yourself with the groups
research. Click on 'newest' to start.
5.Don't forget you can use the search bar at the top to search for a particular name, i.e. 'Mahala'. Don't put in Salmon !
6.When answering a message post, please reply to that particular message,
do not start a fresh post.
7.Posting a message is self explanatory, click on 'post'.
8.'Files' contains copies of maps, newspaper articles and copies of wills.
9.'Links' takes you to useful websites.
10.'Database' contains transcriptions of wills etc that have been transcribed by members. There are still more to do !
11.Click on the link to view Salmon family photos.
12.Talking to other members....Each member is asked to post a short message
about themselves and their research interests on joining the group.
Don't be shy, ask members if you're unsure. You can either email members
privately or post a message on the site for them.
