On Thursday the Scottish Government released the findings of its short life
working group, the Creative Industries Framework Agreement Implementation Group
("CIFAIG"), on how the complementary roles the Government, Scottish Enterprise,
Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Creative Scotland and Scottish Local
Government will support the sector from next year. The report can read by

The Scottish Artists Union notes with interest that rather than the leader on
creative industry, Creative Scotland will be one among a group of partners,
none of whom will be a "wrong door" for the relevant sectors, namely:
advertising, architecture, arts & antiques, crafts, design, designer fashion,
film, computer & video games, music, performing arts, publishing and television
& radio.
The recent Visual Arts Blueprint from Creative & Cultural Skills (the sector
skills council for the creative and cultural industries in the UK) confirmed
that visual arts are not included in the accepted definition of creative
industry. The SAU look forward to the point when Creative Scotland's support
of the invaluable contribution visual artists make to Scottish culture receives
as much thought as creative industry.
