Subject: KS3 Science Writers' Workshop
Are you a Science teacher fully conversant with the National Curriculum KS3
PoS? Are you familiar with the types of questions that appear in the
National Tests in Science? Do you think that there are areas of the
curriculum that have not been particularly well tested? Could you see
yourself contributing to a brainstorming session to discuss novel contexts
for questions? Could you discuss and develop new ideas for testing difficult
areas of the curriculum? Do you have a flair for question writing? Could you
write questions based on familiar classroom experiments?
If the answer to these questions is 'yes' and you are available in either
the Easter or the Summer holiday, I would be very interested to hear from
you.
The University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate is intending to
organise a writers' workshop to bring together experienced teachers of KS3
Science to contribute to the development of future questions for the
National tests. The workshop will be held one day in Cambridge and will
provide an opportunity to bounce ideas off colleagues with a view to writing
new test questions and to explore new ways of testing areas of the PoS.
What's in it for you?
- the opportunity to discuss your ideas
- a chance to influence future tests
- a tasty lunch
- a fee of £120
- reasonable travel expenses reimbursed
If you are interested, or know of interested colleagues of any Science
discipline, please could you reply to
wallington.r@...
with KS3 Science Writers' Workshop in the subject line.
Many thanks.
