INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE TEACHERS' PROGRAMME 2003
STOP PRESS!

URGENT:

SINGAPORE INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE TEACHERS' PROGRAMME 1st - 19th April 2003
Would you like a trip to Singapore in April 2003 - fares and accommodation
all paid?

ASE have been asked by the British Council to nominate ONE science teacher
to attend the
Singapore International Science Teachers' Programme 1 - 19 April 2003

The cost of the flights will be paid by the British Council and the
accommodation provided by Singapore as the host country.

The Singapore International Science Teachers' Programme (Singapore InSTeP)
is part of Singapore's continuing effort to establish collaboration with
science educators from other countries. This three-week programme aims to
bring together teachers from different parts of the world to Singapore to
share their experiences and ideas in the teaching and learning of science.
The programme is open to teachers who teach science to students aged 13 -
16 years.

Some highlights of the programme include a week long school attachment
where participants will be given the opportunity to co-teach with local
teachers and provided with information on recent initiatives in science
education in Singapore.

Topics covered will include education policy, mathematics and science
programmes, teaching approaches, assessment modes and technology used in
science education. There will be visits to institutions and resource
centres to show how such places support and complement the science
programmes in schools. You will also be invited to share the best education
practices in your country.

Applications must be submitted to Derek Bell by 8th November 2002.

INTERESTED? Please email Derek Bell at ASE derekbell@... or
phone 01707 283014 for more details and an application form.

Apologies for the short timeframe but we have only just received the
request from the British Council.

best wishes

Mary Whitehouse
