Subject: Sun-Earth Day 2003 - opportunities to participate
A message from Lyndsay Fletcher, University of Glasgow:
Respond to Lyndsey not me.
Dear all,
I hope that this is a suitable forum for publicising the following. Once
per year NASA promote an event known as 'Sun-Earth Day', which may be
known to some of you, though activities up until now have been pretty much
confined to the US. This year, the European Space Agency is also keen for
Europe-wide participation, and it is connection with this that I am
mailing you. Sun-Earth day aims to promote public interest in the Sun, its
fascinating physics, and its effect on Earth (space weather).
For information on the Sun-Earth connection outreach effort see

a European, ESA -led version will become available shortly.
The day itself is March 18th 2003, so rather short notice, I appreciate.
However, if you are interested in hosting or organising any kind of event,
or even displaying publicity material (which will be provided by ESA/NASA -
cdroms, stickers, posters etc) then please contact me.
In particular, I am keen for members of the solar physics community in the
UK, both at research and amateur levels, to give presentations - to
schools, community groups, science centres etc, and hope to be able to
match up venues with speakers. Again, please contact me if you would be
interested in hosting such an event, sometime around March 18th indicating:
date and location
what kind of group you have in mind
whether you would be able to offer travel expenses if requested.
Many thanks
Lyndsay Fletcher
