CREATIVE SCIENCE: Opportunities to Support Innovation in Science
Teaching
In advance of setting up a national network of science learning
centres in 2004, the Department for Education and Skills and the
Wellcome Trust are offering funding to develop and pilot new and
exciting continuing professional development (CPD) courses for
science teachers and other science support staff in schools.
We are looking for innovative and creative ideas which will enhance
science teaching, from skilled and experienced training providers
working alone or in partnership with each other. Whether you deliver
CPD training in science or fields such as the arts and humanities,
PSHE and Citizenship, IT and new media, we would like to hear from
you.
We expect to develop up to 25 innovative courses across all phases and
scientific disciplines, including courses focusing on traditionally
hard to reach groups, investigative skills at all Key Stages,
discursive skills for secondary teachers and science in society.
Funding application forms and guidance are available on
www.wellcome.ac.uk/creativescience from Monday 10 February.
An Information and Networking Day on 3 March in Central London will
facilitate new partnerships and explore and stimulate creative ideas.
If you are interested in attending on 3 March please contact us by
Friday 14 February. E-mail: conferences@... or download a
registration form now from www.wellcome.ac.uk/creativescience
