Greetings (in the positive sense),
As an Englishman with a particular predilection for Western SMT circa
1950's/1960's (the reason being that I spent quite a lot of time in Carlisle
during my formative years - ages 6 - 12 - staying with an uncle and aunt,
and the Wesrtern vehicles just seemed to have a great deal of character,
somehow even more than the Ribble, United and Cumberland stock with which
they mingled), I would just like to comment on how well served that company
is for that period by messrs EFE & OOC, with the prospect of the Western
FS's to come from OOC in May? of this year.
Like many other enthusiasts, I cannot understand why one of the two major
"British" producers has not modelled the ubiquitous LD, which of course was
to be found throughout a good proportion of Scotland with various SBG
fleets, but not with Northern or Highland, from memory.
Also, is the book "Scotland's wee buses" by Doug Harrison still available? -
I have lent mine to somebody who has now lost it! Please advise.
Best wishes,
Barry Meakin
