Anyone know where I can get a back window glasing for this bus. I hope to win it. Tt's a code 3 and must have originally been a first bus as their logo is on the back window, so i wish to replace this or is ther a fix for this. The destination screen should be 69 Portobello, so I wish to replace this also. Thanks

I act as unpaid consultant to EFE re SMT/SOL/Eastern Scottish buses.
There are a number of models in the pipeline, the next of which is to
be Baxters B161. Thererafter, order and timing not known, there is
indeed to be a Lothian Green FLF - probably an English one with T
style destination indicator - with hopefully the same bus produced in
Brighton & Hove livery. Others planned are an Eastern National 1 in
original livery, a Lowlnd National, a Lowland VRT3, possibly the
Lowland Titan, a Lowland Y type, Starks ZH529S. EFE have agreed in
principal to these, as sales of the Renown and other SOL buses have
been good. Does anybodt know the unladen weight of any of the above?

EFE will be issuing their model of AEC Renown 9963 SF I think in
SOLlight green and cream with =Scottish= fleetnames towards the end of
next month. Re previous postings, EFE will apply their own legal
lettering etc. and it might be worth a try to see if they would do it
for buses that they do not make - i.e. the amateur model market. It
could be lucrative for them! Worth a try.
I myself used the Ford Laurel Green and Panama Beige, on a lodekka respray but I thought the green looked a wee bit too dark (I used grey primer). It was the first and only respray into SMT colours I have done to date so I cannot offer any alternative.
On the subject of transfers, you can get the 'emergency exit', 'fuel oil', etc from MODELMASTER DECALS, but they do not supply company addresses (legal lettering) transfers that you are after. I know that Mark did a lot of the transfers himself.
At one time, I was going to commission a run of complete sets of transfers for the Scottish Bus Groups with everything included on the sheets, but the cost was too high for me to do on my own.
Try asking the other group members if anyone can do some transfers for you.
Walter.

To anyone interested.
I am selling a complete metal casting kit on ebay at the moment. It's
excellent for model/jewellery making or other fine craft work. I used
to use it to make model bus kits.
My sellers ID on ebay is buses.cakes or you can find the auction by
searching for 'Casting machine'.
The auction closes tomorrow (Wed 18th April) at 2100. At the time of
writing the highest bid was £102, the euivalent set up new costs closer
to £1500.
Regards.
James

I have just created a website at www.fifescottish.com and hope that you

Like many other enthusiasts, I cannot understand why one of the two major "British" producers has not modelled the ubiquitous LD, which of course was to be found throughout a good proportion of Scotland with various SBG fleets, but not with Northern or Highland, from memory.
Also, is the book "Scotland's wee buses" by Doug Harrison still available? - I have lent mine to somebody who has now lost it! Please advise.

Well, that's good new Harry. My recollection is that orange is correct for the roof-lights on toilet-fitted coaches, but not otherwise, but I don't have any SMT/Eastern Scottish references to hand right now.
EFE's model of a Y type for the new Covent Garden Transport Museum
exhibition will be SOL's YH429A (YSC429K). I have just seen the pre
production effort - it looks good - but they have used their standard
seat insert with 49 red seats, and the three opening roof vents had a
dull organge perspex rather than the clear they have produced. I have
drawn this to the attention of EFE - but we will just have to wait and
see what actually happens. They had colour photos to work from. The
destination is 3DW LONDON.
Also the Renown BB963 should be out fairly soon - potential
destinations they are looking at are
041 HADDINGTON
037 EAST FORTUNE
043 PENCAITLAND
043 GLENKINCHIE
It will be in light green livery with Scottish fleetnames. Again they
have colour photos to work from.
Harry
Now i am impressed, where can i buy some of these diecasts, are they all
off the shelve or have they been repainted, to a very high standard i
must say if they are.
cheers,
stewart
Sorry I have been neglecting the group a bit. Since I have started
back on the buses, I have had no time to myself. It is just because I
am back on the spare sheet and have been doing a lot of long shifts. I
will soon be inviting a few of my fellow bus drivers to join the group
(the ones I know that collect model buses).
Speak to you all soon.
