Records were broken last night ... three (yes, three) full names were
embroidered! And they're
looking beautiful. In the other corner we had the innocent-hat-knitting-machine
... with
scarves, chains and we're-definitely-getting-closer-to-the-needlepoint in
between!

Monday night it is, then

A good turn out last night ... we had squares and chains; rectangles of black;
and mohair
entrelac; wool winding and scarf casting on; only 80 names to go on the amazing
tablecloth;
and we could just be about to start some needlepoint!

And the same again next Monday 29 Sept from 7.30 ... with hopefully more
besides!

Hi

Does anyone have a little bit of grey wool left over? My colleague (the
one that supplied all the wool from last week) needs an outfit knitted
for 4 little mascottes whcih need to be grey and lilac. I've got more
than enough lilac, but no plain grey. I'm looking for a DK type, needle
size 3-3.5mm (UK)

I've never heard of that make. I think a lot will depend on how it is.
If it's old then the company could well have gone out of business.

I have what looks like almost enough for a cardigan of a hairy black
wool. The label tells me it is made in the UK by the following company:

Avocet Hand Knitting Yarns
Harrogate
Yorkshire

I've searched on the internet, but can't find them. Any ideas?

Using knitterbirds link to the entrelac sites I have sucesfully managed
a small sample. It's fab - looks really complicated but is actually
quite easy to do and makes you look like a very clever knitter (which I
am not)!

On the suggestion of one of my friends I made it into an iPod sock.
Picture to follow later. Next project is a vry light orange mohair
entrelac scarf!

I inherited some wool which was a bit stale and needed to be
decrinkled. It was a right hassle, but I did what Julie recommends -
unraveled it, sprayed it with water and left to drip dry over the
bath. If I had been able to dry it outside I think that would have
been the better option, but it still worked out OK.

I'm not sure how much more stubborn stale smoke is though. Good luck.

How about airing it on a washing line (perhaps unravel
it so it's looser) or hang it in the bathroom - the
steam from your bath or shower might help though it
would obviously then need to be dried properly!
