Records were broken last night ... three (yes, three) full names were
embroidered! And they're
looking beautiful. In the other corner we had the innocent-hat-knitting-machine
... with
scarves, chains and we're-definitely-getting-closer-to-the-needlepoint in
between!
Dates for diaries
October 13
October 27
November 10 (this will be the evening of the Secret Santa draw)
November 24
December 8 (SE1 SnB Christmas meal :: probably at Poppy Hana
http://www.poppyhana.com/
:: as noodles and chopsticks are the nearest we could get to edible
knitting!!!!)
December ... maybe squeeze another one in before Christmas gets underway???
See you all in October!
We're meeting at the Britannia on Kipling Street from 7.30 ... looking forward
to seeing what's
on the needles this week
And if you are 'new' to this thread and you can make it ... please come along!
Some people
have known each other for a while and some came along knowing no-one ... but now
we all
know each other ... !!! Shall I stop?!
Monday night it is, then
A good turn out last night ... we had squares and chains; rectangles of black;
and mohair
entrelac; wool winding and scarf casting on; only 80 names to go on the amazing
tablecloth;
and we could just be about to start some needlepoint!
And the same again next Monday 29 Sept from 7.30 ... with hopefully more
besides!
Thanks all x
A reminder that next SnB is Monday 22nd at Britannia on Kipling Street - from
7.30 ... see
you there!
And please come along if you haven't already and are tempted to ... we're at all
levels of
ability; male and female; some people knew some people and others knew no-one
when they
started ... it's a friendly group!

Hi
Does anyone have a little bit of grey wool left over? My colleague (the
one that supplied all the wool from last week) needs an outfit knitted
for 4 little mascottes whcih need to be grey and lilac. I've got more
than enough lilac, but no plain grey. I'm looking for a DK type, needle
size 3-3.5mm (UK)
Thanks,
Natalie
Yes, it was a great turnout ... with lots on the needles this week! (Black spiky wool; pink mohair entrelac; a beautifully tensioned scarf; 2 hats for 2 girls; a PC cover;
a 'it's years since I picked up needles so I can't remember how to do it ... oh yes I can'; and the amazing tablecloth ...
And I'm awaiting the pack from Innocent so we could knit some hats one evening for the smoothie bottles ...
We will be meeting on the 22nd and 29th as it was agreed that three weeks was far too long to wait

Stale smoke is very stubborn, but I have since found that the wool that had been stored in plastic bags (closed) appears to only smell on the outside (as
in the first layer or so). I have liberally sprayed one of them with febreze and left in the bag to dry out which so far seems to get rid of the majority of it. Will keep you all updated of my progress!

I inherited some wool which was a bit stale and needed to be
decrinkled. It was a right hassle, but I did what Julie recommends -
unraveled it, sprayed it with water and left to drip dry over the
bath. If I had been able to dry it outside I think that would have
been the better option, but it still worked out OK.
I'm not sure how much more stubborn stale smoke is though. Good luck.

Good luck.

How about airing it on a washing line (perhaps unravel
it so it's looser) or hang it in the bathroom - the
steam from your bath or shower might help though it
would obviously then need to be dried properly!
