And what is still under the floorboards of our house too! :-)

Hi Liz,
That's exactly what was under the wooden kitchen floorboards in my old house.
It was still standing last time I checked
Old ways...

Concrete slab? Sorry, but I hope not! The floor of a roundhouse needs to be beaten earth with a slab of stone for the hearth. I would imagine it would be similar for a longhouse.

Far as I know if it dont have foundations you dont need planning permission so a long house or round house on a concrete slab is ok

Excellent photos - it looks to be a fascinating place!

?

The buildings all look very large - presumably we'd do somthing on a slightly smaller scale?

And will Derek need planning permission? (argh!)

?

I have put the pictures up of various buildings at the Ancient Technology Centre in Cranborne. For some reason the position of the photos has been randomised?? ???

The investment of time and money here is considerable, but it is a full time educational centre with county council staff and a big team of volunteers.
